Suspicious husband kills wife, 2 kids; surrenders

Mysuru, Sept 20: A man surrendered to Mandya police after pushing his wife and two daughters into a water channel along with his bike late on Friday. The mother and two daughters drowned.

Police recovered the bodies of Anusha, 28, Purvika, 6, and Likitha, 3, from the Chamaraja right channel near Krishnaraja taluk, 45km from Mysuru and are probing the case.

Anusha's husband Madhu, a resident of Hassan, told police he had doubts about her fidelity.

Additional superintendent of police N Rudramuni said the incident happened around 9.30pm.

Madhu had taken wife and daughters to his home town, Bhagevalu village in Holenaraipura taluk of Hassan district, on his two-wheeler early in the day and they were on the way back to their home in Hunsur, Mysuru.

On nearing the channel, Madhu jumped off the bike after steering the vehicle towards the channel. The mother and daughters drowned and Madhu fled.

Hours later, Madhu went to Mandya West police and confessed to the crime. The search operation began early on Saturday and police found Purvika's body near Southanahalli village. The bodies of the mother and the other daughter were fished out around noon.

Anusha was from Kattemalalavadi village in Hunsur and married Madhu seven years ago. She worked as a typist in front of the Hunsur law courts.Sources claimed she started working to support the family as earnings from her husband Madhu weren't sufficient.

Rudramuni said Madhu told police he doubted her fidelity and killed her but didn't give any reason for killing his daughters."We'll probe the cause for his action," he said.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

Chandigarh, Jan 15: A man, who has killed two women over infidelity over the last 10 years was arrested from a news channel studio in Chandigarh when he confessed to these crimes during a live programme, police said.

In the television programme on News18, the 31-year-old accused, Maninder Singh, who is a cab driver, confessed killing his live-in partner, a 27-year-old nurse Sarabjit Kaur at a Chandigarh hotel on New Year's Eve.

Singh, a former murder convict and currently out on bail, also confessed about his crime committed in Karnal in 2010.

"I killed her (Sarabjit Kaur) because she was having an affair with her sister-in-law's brother," Maninder told the news channel.

Confessing his previous crime, Maninder said he had killed Renu in Karnal. "She was also having an affair with a man from Uttar Pradesh," he said.

Singh was arrested while the programme was still on air as police rushed into the studio.

Haryana Police had arrested him for killing the woman in 2010. He was convicted by a trial court, but he later got bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Hyderabad, Mar 28: Seven labourers from Karnataka were killed and four injured when the van in which they were travelling was hit by a truck near Pedda Golconda on the outskirts of the city late on Friday night, police said.

The deceased included two children. Of the 31 workers in the van, five died on the spot and two while undergoing treatment at a hospital, Assistant Commissioner of Traffic Vishwa Prasad said.
Four others were hospitalised and the condition of one of them is critical, he said, adding the other workers in the van escaped with minor injuries.

The workers were on their way back to their home town Raichur in Karnataka as the road project they were working in at Suryapet here was stalled due to the lockdown, Prasad said.

He said initital investigations revealed that the mango laden truck, which was on its way to Gujarat, was overspeeding.
