Tata Steel senior manager shot dead by ex-employee in Faridabad office

Faridabad, Nov 10: In a shocking incident, a senior manager of the Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Ltd (TSPDL) was shot dead by a former employee of the company in Faridabad on Friday.

The TSPDL, in a statement, informed that the incident took place at around 1:10 pm at Faridabad office of the company, wherein Arindam Pal, senior manager, was shot dead by the former employee Vishwash Pandey.

After shooting Pal, Pandey immediately ran out of office and is still at large. The victim died on his way to the hospital.

Pandey worked with TSPDL from 2015 to 2018. He was discharged from the services of the company in August this year.

Ashok Kumar, SHO, Mujesar, informed, "In the initial reports, the doctors revealed that five bullets were pumped in Pal's body. But the Post-mortem reports are still awaited."

The police has initiated the investigation. Further details into the matter are awaited.

Kochi, Mar 24: A 54-year-old domestic passenger was arrested at the airport here for allegedly refusing to follow instructions given by doctorsfor prevention of the spread of novel coronavirus, police said here on Tuesday.

Lami Arackal from Ernakulam, who landed from Chennai at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday night, was arrested based on a complaint from health officials, they said.

He was, however, later released on bail.

Arackal allegedly refused to wear mask and follow other instructions to be observed by the passengers coming from other states as part of the measures to check COVID-19 spread.

He also allegedly misbehaved with the medical officers, police said.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

New York, Mar 6: A 23-year-old Indian with a student visa in the US has pleaded guilty to sexual enticement of a minor girl, prosecutors have said.

Sachin Aji Bhaskar faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

He pleaded guilty before Senior US District Judge William M Skretny to sexual enticement of a minor.

The charge carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum penalty of life in prison, a fine of USD 250,000 or both, US Attorney James P Kennedy said.

Prosecutors alleged that Bhaskar communicated by text and email with an 11-year-old girl for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity.

Through those communications, Bhaskar enticed the victim to engage in a sexual activity with him in August, 2018, they said.

The sentencing in the case is scheduled for June 17.
