Tehelka_journalistNew Delhi, Nov 26: Tehelka journalist who accused editor Tarun Tejpal of sexual assault resigned from the organization on Monday, according to Times Now.

According to reports, the woman journalist in her resignation letter has said that the organization has failed her.

Earlier today, Tarun Tejpal moved the Delhi high court seeking anticipatory bail in a sexual assault case lodged against him in Goa.

Justice GS Sistani, before whom the petition was mentioned by senior advocates K T S Tulsi and Geeta Luthra, will hear the matter on Tuesday.

Tejpal, in his petition, filed through advocate Sandeep Kapur, has also sought transit bail to approach the appropriate court in Goa.

The alleged incident happened in a lift in a five-star hotel in Goa earlier this month.

The Goa police had on November 22 lodged an FIR against Tejpal under sections 376 (rape), 376 (2)(k) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) and 354 (outraging modesty) of IPC in connection with the incident.

Conviction under section 376 of IPC entails a maximum of life term in jail.

The issue came into the limelight when an email by the woman journalist of his magazine alleging sexual assault was made public and Tejpal announced on November 19 that he was "recusing" from his job for six months.

On Sunday, a three-member Goa police team, which had arrived in Delhi on November 23, quizzed Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury and three employees who had been contacted by the alleged victim to corroborate her version.

The police also seized from the Tehelka office a hard disc, transcripts of emails exchanged among Tejpal, Choudhury and the girl and other documents.

Jun 5: Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his wife Mahzabeen have tested positive for COVID-19, a top government source told CNN News 18. They were admitted to the Army Hospital in Karachi.

Some of Dawood's personal staff and guards have also been quarantined, the report said on Friday.

Dawood was the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai blasts and is one of the most-wanted gangsters by India. He has allegedly been living in Pakistan but the neighbouring country has always refusing to accept it.

Earlier in the day, a senior diplomat of the American embassy in Pakistan has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, a media report said.

In a statement, the embassy's spokesman said that while maintaining the privacy, the name of the citizen would not be disclosed.

The US State Department is responsible to protect its citizens, wherever they are, the spokesman added. In coordination with the Pakistani authorities, the consulate is working to enforce the coronavirus protocol in order to stem its spread. The spokesman added that isolation wards, contact tracing and quarantine facility are part of such protocols.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has 89,249 COVID-19 cases and the death toll is 1,838.
