Temple tragedy: death toll due to food poison increases to 15

Mysuru, Dec 18: The death toll due to suspected food poison in a temple 'Prasada' at Sulwadi village in Chamarajanagara District on Friday last rose to 15 with a 50 year-old woman died in a private hospital on Tuesday.

Hospital sources said that deceased Dundamma, resident of M M Hills, who was admitted to hospital on Dec 13, breathed last this afternoon.

Of the 101 patients admitted in hospitals here, 45 are still in the ICU and 20 on ventilator support. About 54 patients had been shifted to the wards.

Evacuation flights from Muscat, Doha to Mangaluru via Bengaluru on May 20, May 22

Mangaluru, May 12: Air India will operate two flights - one each from Doha and Muscat - to bring back stranded Kannadigas from Qatar and Oman to Mangaluru next week.

The flight from Muscat to Mangaluru will be operated on May 20 via Bengaluru. It will depart from Muscat International Airport at 1.15 pm local time and reach Bengaluru at 6.15 pm. After the layover at Bengaluru airport, the flight will take off at 7.15 pm and land at Mangaluru International Airport at around 8.10 pm.

Doha – Bengaluru – Mangaluru flight is will be operated May 22. The flight will take off from Doha at 1.30 pm local time and will land at Bengaluru at 8 pm. It will take off from Bengaluru at 9 pm and land at Mangaluru airport around 9.35 pm.

Man booked over inflammatory WhatsApp message against Mangaluru Khazi

Mangaluru, Jan 10: A person has been booked for forwarding provocative message on WhatsApp against the Dakshina Kannada Khazi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar.

According to police, the accused Hassan forwarded provocative messages against the Khazi in a WhatsApp group on December 31, following which he was booked under several sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Mangalore North Police are looking into the matter.

Coronavirus claims life of Kannada journalist

Bengaluru, June 19: The throat swabs of a Bengaluru-based Kannada journalist, who passed away on June 18, were tested positive for the covid-19, officials said.

Gauripura Chandru (54), who was one of the sub-editors of Vijaya Karnataka Kannada daily newspaper, had reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.

It is learnt that Chandru wasn’t keeping well for past few days. He collapsed at his home on Thursday afternoon and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

A native of Gauripura in Chitradurga district, Chandru had completed graduation in engineering. However, he had chosen journalism as his profession.
