Hubballi, Nov 9: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of trying to blackmail and pressurize Congress stalwart DK Shivakumar to join the saffron party.
Speaking to presspersons during a stopover at Hubballi airport on the way to Bagalkot, Mr. Siddramaiah said that the IT raids on the Energy Minister and his family and friends were Centre’s ugly tactics to exert pressure on him.
“They (BJP leaders) are trying to blackmail and pressurize him. But, Shivakumar is a ‘born Congressman’ and will remaining in Congress forever. He would not yield to the pressure tactics at any cost,” the CM said.
Regarding reports about Mr. Shivakumar being promised the post of Deputy Chief Minister for switching sides, Mr. Siddaramaiah said there was no such constitutional post but a political post created to satisfy political leaders.
