Thumbay Group wins multiple honors at MENA HR Excellence Awards

Thumbay Group, the international business conglomerate headquartered in DIFC-Dubai won two major honors at the MENA HR Excellence Awards, held as part of the 11th Human Capital Forum MENA, held at Sofitel The Palm – Dubai, on Thursday, 26th May 2016. The event was organized by Naseba, an international expert on business leadership and professional training.

Thumbay Group won the third place in the ‘Employer of the Year - Private Sector, while Mr. Suraj Padmanabhan, Manager – Talent Acquisition of the group won the 'HR Professional of the Year - Private Sector' award for his exceptional leadership within the HR department at Thumbay Group and for his efforts in ensuring consistently high quality of the group's workforce.

Receiving the award from Ms. Sophie Le Ray - CEO of Naseba Group, Mr. Suraj Padmanabhan said that Thumbay Group follows a unique model of talent management which not only makes it a highly sought-after employer, but also ensures that its workforce meets the highest standards. “I take this opportunity to thank the Founder President of Thumbay Group, Mr. Thumbay Moideen, for encouraging and supporting my initiatives,” he added.

The summit connected HR Professionals from leading organizations in the Middle East and North Africa region. Leading HR professionals and organizations were awarded and recognized for excellence for their achievement in the past 12 months. Other Winners in different categories included Etisalat, UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Royal Saudi Air Force, National Bank of Fujairah, Zain Jordan, Al Nahdi Medical Company, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Banque Saudi Fransi.

Thumbay Group had won the “Best Talent Management Practice” award at the MENA HR Excellence Awards in 2014 and 2015, for setting standard for innovation and strategy in Talent Management. Founded by Mr. Thumbay Moideen in 1998, Thumbay Group is an international business conglomerate headquartered in DIFC - Dubai. The Group has successfully diversified into 16 different sectors in a span of just 18 years. Presently employing over 4000 people, Thumbay Group’s workforce is expected to number over 6000 with the completion of ongoing projects in the next two years, and around 15,000 by the year 2020.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.
