Ticket aspirant Cong leader joins JD(S)

Bengaluru, Apr 14: Congress leader from C.V. Raman Nagar P. Ramesh, who had lost to S. Raghu of BJP in the 2013 Assembly elections , by a margin of 8,419 votes, joined the Janata Dal (Secular) on Friday.

At one time, Mr. Ramesh was a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The Income Tax Department had searched his residence and office in December 2015.

The party’s State unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy said that this was a re-entry for Mr. Ramesh. “He had gone with Mr. Siddaramaiah to the Congress.”

JD(S) sources said that Mr. Ramesh is likely to be their candidate in C.V. Raman Nagar constituency.

Sources said that Mr. Ramesh had been lobbying for the Congress ticket, but had been told that he would not get it this time. The names of Public Works Minister H.C. Mahadevappa or his son Sunil Bose are doing the rounds.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kumaraswamy campaigned in Rajarajeshwarinagar constituency as part of Kumara Parva on Friday.

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Bengaluru, Apr 6: Popular Kannada comedy actor Prakash, popularly known as Bullet Prakash in the film industry, died due to multi-organ failure at a private hospital in the City on Monday.

He was 44.

He is survived by wife, one son and a daughter.

Mangaluru: ‘Team B-Human’, a city based charity organisation, has donated Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of the a three-year-old child from Kinya on the outskirts of the city, who had sustained severe burn injuries.

According to the reports, a cleric at the Kodaje Badriya Juma Masjid, was living in hardship with his wife and two kids and had to recently avail loan to repair his house which was severely damaged due to storm.

To add to his woes, his three-year old son sustained 80% burn injuries after hot water fell on him accidentally. The child is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Derlakatte. The child’s brother is battling kidney related ailment.

A fundraising campaign was recently run on local social media platforms to help the cleric in sustaining in the hardship and to raise fund for the treatment of his son.

Taking note of the viral messages on social media, ‘Team B-Human’ came to the rescue of cleric and donated Rs 1 lakh.

‘Team B-Human’ has also arranged Rs. 70 thousand from its well-wishers which will also be deposited to cleric’s account soon. ‘Team B-Human’ in a release added that it will take care of Batish until he is discharged from the hospital post-treatment. 

Founder of ‘Team B-Human’, Asif Deals, members Basha, Althaf, Sadiq, Shameem and others were present when the cheque of Rs. one lakh was handed over to the cleric.
