April 11, 2016

Mumbai, Apr 11: Actor Tiger Shroff says his father Jackie Shroff, who has enjoyed the adulation of his fans for years, is always tensed about how the audience will accept him.

Tiger"My father is always tensed and scared on how the audience will (react)...Accept me or not. Being a son of a talented and great actor like him, there is pressure, and there are expectations. He understands that," Tiger said. "Every star son has to face this thing. I work very hard to make my father and mother proud. That is my goal." According to Tiger, his father loved the trailer of his upcoming film 'Baaghi'. "My family is very happy about this film. My father doesn't speak much but I could sense that he is very happy. The biggest high for me is when my parents are happy." In his debut film 'Heropanti', Tiger stunned everyone with his action and dancing skills. Now for his second film 'Baaghi' the young actor has learnt Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art form from Kerala.

Chief Commando trainer Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bharadwaj has trained the 26-year-old actor in Kalaripayattu. In the film as well, Bharadwaj will be seen as the trainer of Tiger. "Before I met him (Chief Commando Trainer Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bharadwaj) there was pressure. My master is a talented person and praticener of this art. With 'Baaghi' we go ahead and treat the audience with something new to watch on screen," he said. "I have tried my best to do justice to this art form. Whatever I have learnt so far, I want to up my quotient in action," he added.

Through 'Baaghi' the makers wants to promote this art form practised by warriors. "It is about going back to our roots and being proud of what we are. We had martial arts form here but don't know why people were not using it. Everybody in the East wants to be like West and people in West wants to be like East," Tiger said. The film directed by Sabbir Khan also stars Shraddha Kapoor in the lead.

Washington, May 18: Joining hands with the European Commission, actor Leonardo DiCaprio launched the Virunga Fund with seed money of USD 2 million to support Africa's Virunga National Park.

Since Virunga has lost a significant amount of revenue due to COVID shutdown post-March, the fund will be used to support the national park and the communities around, reported Variety.

The fund is aimed at disease prevention efforts, protection of mountain gorilla, and other species.

"I had the great honor of meeting and supporting Virunga's courageous team in their fight against illegal oil drilling in 2013," Variety quoted DiCaprio as saying.

"Virunga urgently needs funds to protect the endangered mountain gorilla population, to provide support to the rangers and the families of rangers who have fallen in the line of duty, and to help deliver essential disease prevention efforts. It's critical that we rally together during this time of incredible crisis," he added.

The 'Titanic' actor had earlier produced a Netflix documentary film 'Virunga' which is based on the national park.

Los Angeles, Jan 27: Lil Nas X, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and... Michelle Obama?

Yep.

The former first lady can now add Grammy winner to her resume, after snagging the award on music's biggest night for Best Spoken Word Album, for the audiobook of her memoir Becoming.

Her win on Sunday gives the Obama household its third Grammy: former president Barack Obama has already snagged two Grammys in the same category for his books.

She faced an eccentric group of rivals that included Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys for Beastie Boys Book and John Waters, the director-performer known for his transgressive cult films, for Mr. Know-It-All.

Released in late 2018, Becoming saw the former first lady slam U.S. president Donald Trump for questioning her husband's citizenship and promoting the notion that he was born abroad.

"The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed," Obama wrote.

America's first black first lady also dug into her personal life in her book, expounding on issues including a miscarriage, using in-vitro fertilization to conceive her daughters and marriage counseling.
