Kochi, Mar 21: Twenty-six renowned travel bloggers from 21 countries across the globe Thursday set off on a fortnight's trip to Kerala by bus to visit places of tourist interest and cultural value and post their experiences real-time.

The sixth edition of the 'Kerala Blog Express' (KBE) had its first halt at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, where the writers took a round of countrys biggest contemporary art festival that is concluding on March 29, a press release from Kerala Tourism said here.

The KBE, as a unique initiative of Kerala's Tourism Department, seeks to earn global focus on the states brand assets through first-hand accounts of the travellers.

The express this time has a stronger representation from Latin American countries with 16 of its 26 bloggers being women, the release said.

The journey facilitates the visitors to write and post their experiences real-time, as the luxury coach they were travelling in is equipped with cutting-edge connectivity solutions, it said

The KBE 6, which would conclude its journey on April 5, shaped up after organisers shortlisted more than 7,000 entries the department received from 50-plus countries.

The endeavour goes by Kerala Tourisms latest global campaign titled 'Human by Nature', a three-minute video film, encapsulating the scenic states charms, it added.

New Delhi, Mar 14: Excise duty on petrol and diesel was on Saturday hiked by ₹3 per litre as the government looked to mop up gains arising from fall in international oil prices.

Special excise duty on petrol was hiked by ₹2 to ₹8 per litre incase of petrol and to Rs 4 incase of diesel, an official notification said.

Additionally, road cess on petrol was raised by ₹1 per litre each on petrol and diesel to ₹10.

The increase in excise duty would in normal course result in a hike in petrol and diesel prices but most of it would be adjusted against the fall in rates that would have necessitated because of slump in international oil prices.
