Truck falls on car crushing three college students to death, six injured

Madikeri, May 26: Three students from Kerala were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident at Perumbadi near Virajpet in the wee hours of Thursday.

The deceased are Ashik, 18, Minoj, 19, and Yasin 18, all students of MHES College at Cherandathur near Kozhikode in Kerala.

They were travelling to Kodagu along with four friends when their vehicle was hit by a truck. There were two more passengers in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Sajan, and another passenger Shahabas have been shifted to a hospital in Kozhikode.

Two others, Shameen and Shafir, are in KR Hospital, Mysuru. Another passenger Jaffer is being treated at Amala Hospital at Iritty. Nasir and Suber, who were part of the students' group, also sustained minor injuries.

Police and locals had a tough time rescuing the victims and pull out the bodies which were crushed between the vehicles.

I am sure proper signage indications and calculated speed breakers would have avoided this fate..... Thanks to our RTO and Traffic departments. No control on anyone.

Newsroom, Apr 23: During the ongoing lockdown in India so as to break the chain of Coronavirus infection, Islamic scholars across India are appealing Muslims to stay indoors and observe fasting with steadfastedness in the blessed month of Ramadan.

They have urged the people to offer taraveeh and other Namaz at homes, do iftar at home and enjoy with one's family only.

During Ramadan, social distancing would be of utmost importance in order to contain the disease, they urged. 

Shahi imams of Jama Masjid and Fatehpuri Masjid in the city have also appealed to Muslims to offer namaz during the holy month of Ramadan at home and follow lockdown guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: A 54-year-old man committed suicide at his home, after he learned that he was tested positive for Covid-19, at Devasandra, in Sadashivanagar.

The deceased, Shivamahadeva, ran a cot shop in Yeshwantpur along with his brother. The police said that he was single and was living with his elder brother and his family.

In another incident, a 50-year-old man, committed suicide fearing Covid-19 and the stigma related to the illness.

The deceased has been identified as Nagaraju, a resident of Doddaballapura and a native of Hesaraghatta, and his body was found at the Hesaraghatta lake.

The police said that during the investigation it was found that the neighbours had accused Nagaraju of spreading the infection.

City police Commissioner Harsha taking to twitter wrote, ''Specialised protection equipment, AntiContagion face shields have been issued to all policemen at the front line having the highest risk of exposure to coronavirus..
They are fighting a pandemic .. FOR YOU..Be kind to them..Comply with all legal instructions.''
