Bengaluru, Mar 17: The BJP on Friday pounced on veteran Congress leader M Veerappa Moily's tweet alleging a "nexus" between road contractors and Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa.

The first to react was BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, who said Moily's tweet had validated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charge that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress ran a "10% commission" government.

"At last, someone's conscience in the Congress prodded him to speak up! Moily is right. We have been saying that Siddaramaiah is a 10% chief minister," BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa tweeted. "With contractors filling PWD minister's deep pockets, the state's coffers and roads are in tatters."

Yeddyurappa, the BJP's chief ministerial face, added that "angst and discontent" of Congress old-timers against Siddaramaiah was palpable.

"He said bitter critics of Siddaramaiah were not tolerated in the Congress, mentioning former union minister B Janardhan Poojary "who was driven to tears by Siddaramaiah's humiliation" and "then it was Congressman H Vishwanath's turn to quit the party out of sheer disgrace."

The BJP's social media team dubbed the Public Works

Department as Siddaramaiah's "Personal Welfare Department."

BJP spokesperson S Suresh Kumar said Moily's allegation was "100% true" and that

"rule of money prevailed in the Congress."
