Uppinangady: Man collapses at Eid Milad procession, dies

Mangaluru, Dec 12: In a tragic incident, a middle aged man suffered a heart attack and died during a procession organised as part of Eid Milad at Uppinangady on the outskirts of the city on Monday.Abdul  Kareem1

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Kareem (45), a resident of Ramnagar in Uppinangady, and proprietor of M H Bed Centre.

He had taken part in the Milad procession organised by a mosque in Uppinangady. The procession started from Kotel Dargah. When the procession reached near Aditya Hotel, people noticed Abdul Kareem collapsing on the road.

Those who were around Abdul Kareem in the procession took him to a hospital in Puttur. However, doctors pronounced him brought dead.

Abdul Kareem is survived by his wife Zareen and daughter Safa.

Bengaluru, May 17: A group of 86 college students, who went to Malaysia for internship and have been stranded due to lockdown, have appealed to Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to help them return to Karnataka.

The students in the video have also mentioned Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and Kolar MP S Muniswamy and stated that States such as Kerala and Tamil Nadu have made arrangements to bring back their natives from South East Asia.

The students added that they are in the Selangor State of Malaysia. They had arrived there on March 13 for a three-month-long internship as part of their college studies. They are living in apartments arranged by their college and money with them is almost spent, their college is extending them support in this regard. They are not in a position to complete the remaining two months of internship due to lock-down in Malaysia.

Bengaluru, Jan 24: After the visit of fact finding committee members to the spot, the Christian community here decided to submit a report to the state government urging to install a 114-ft. statue of Jesus Christ at Kapala Betta in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagaram district, Congress MLC Ivan D’souza said here on Thursday.

While talking to media, Mr D’souza said the committee would submit the report to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Revenue Minster R. Ashok and urge the government to construct the statue at the earliest.

The RSS and other BJP outfits have strongly opposed the installation, following which the government ordered suspension of the work. A few days ago, Kalladka Prabhakar, RSS ideologue, took out a rally in Kanakapura opposing the installation.

Bengaluru, Jan 7: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths held an international bookie in connection with the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) betting scam and spot-fixing racket, police said on Tuesday.

The bookie was identified as Jitin Sait (32), a native of Sonipat in Haryana.

'We had obtained and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Sait, and on Sunday, he was caught after he landed at the Kempegowda International Airport from the Netherlands.
