Vested interests preventing tabling of report on Wakf property: MLC

Mysuru, Feb 26: MLC Go Madhusudan has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to table the report of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission on Wakf properties, headed by Anwar Manipadi, in the coming legislature session so as to protect properties that rightfully belong to the minorities. Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, the MLC said, politicians from the minority community, belonging to all parties, had usurped around 57,000 acres of Wakf land in the State and politicians from other communities too like Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge and former chief minister Dharam Singh own a few of these properties.

“The government value of the said 57,000 acres of land is estimated at Rs 2.5 lakh crore and its market value would be around Rs 15 lakh crore. If the money, looted by the so called leaders of the minority community, is distributed among the minority people (considering their population in the State to be around one crore), each person will get Rs 15 lakh,” he said.

Noting that the Wakf properties had become like ATMs (anytime money) for minority community leaders, Madhusudan said that the vested interests in the minority community were not allowing the tabling of the report.

“The High Court had directed the State government to table the report, based on the petition filed by former minister S K Kantha. During the last session, in November last, as the government did not abide by the ruling of the Speaker to table the report on the basis of the privilege motion moved by legislators A H Shivayogi Swamy, Ganesh Karnik and K Monappa Bhandary, I had staged a dharna in the Council. The vested interests are trying to prevent the report from being tabled for the fear of being exposed,” Madhusudan said.

The MLC, whose term ends on July 4, has written to the chief minister in this regard, recalling that he had written a similar letter on October 27, 2015.

Mangaluru | Miscreants pour kerosene on 200kg beef, thrash driver after waylaying vehicle

Mangaluru, June 21: A gang of miscreants intercepted a goods auto-rickshaw which was legally transporting beef from an abattoir to market and attacked its driver in heart of the city this morning.

The attack comes exactly a week after a gang of Bajrang Dal miscreants thrashed a cattle trader at Urwa while legally transporting four buffalos to Kudroli abattoir on June 13.

Today, a person identified as Abdul Rasheed was transporting around 200 kilograms of beef from Kudroli abattoir to Kankanady market.

Meanwhile, miscreants began to chase beef laden vehicle and managed to waylay it near Highland Hospital. They thrashed Abdul Rasheed and poured kerosene on the beef besides damaging the vehicle.

The miscreants fled in their car and motorbikes after passersby began to gather.

They same terrorists are involved in transporting live animals to beef export houses in Gujrat owned by Brahmins / Jains. Will you be loyal to your duty and promise. We will see how you will handle the issue failing which you will lose our respect and we will consider you as a dramabaz and phenku. You should follow the law and treat everyone equally. There should not be any pity on goondas/ terrorists belonging to sangh parivar. The terrorists who thrashed the auto driver and damaged the auto and burnt the meat by pouring kerosene are not human beings and should be treated as anti nationals + terrorists. We hope you will discharge your duty as per the oath taken by you while accepting your post.

Defence Minister inaugurates new Light Combat Helicopter production Hangar at HAL Complex

Bengaluru, Feb 27: The Centre has adopted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of "Make in India', for India and the world" to build strong defence and security infrastructure in the country, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh after inaugurating the new Light Combat Helicopter Production Hangar at Helicopter Division in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Complex here on Thursday.

According to an official statement, the Defence Minister said in the last five years, India has made significant progress towards manufacturing military equipment indigenously under the 'Make in India' initiative.

Stressing that the defence industry plays a major role in the economic development of the country, Singh lauded the significant contribution of organisations like HAL.

Highlighting the Rs 35,000 crore exports target set for the coming years, he expressed confidence that HAL, through its various platforms, will contribute significantly to achieve this milestone.

According to the statement, Rajnath Singh commended HAL for being the backbone of the Indian Air Force and meeting the requirements of the Armed Forces.

"The HAL has excelled both in operations and finance in the last five years. It has achieved operational clearance on seven platforms, including Light Combat Aircraft and Light Combat Helicopter, and overhauled platforms like Hawk and SU 30 MKI," he said.

He also appreciated that HAL had a turnover of Rs 19,705 crore till March 2019 and it gave shareholders a healthy dividend of 198 per cent.

HAL also apprised the Defence Minister on the progress of the new design and development programme of indigenous Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH), the statement informed.

The full-scale mock-up was showcased to Rajnath Singh. The IMRH is proposed as a replacement to the existing medium-lift helicopters such as Mi17's, Kamovs and Seakings which will phase out in the next eight to ten years.

LCH is a 5.5-tonne class combat helicopter designed and developed by HAL. It is powered by two Shakti engines and inherits many technical features of the Advanced Light Helicopter. LCH has the distinction of being the first attack helicopter to land in Forward Bases at Siachen, 4,700 mts above sea level with 500kg load.

Ban on private vehicles yielded results in Mangaluru, says police

Mangaluru, Apr 3: The Dakshina Kannada district administration’s decision to ban use of private vehicles, excluding permitted categories, from Friday for effective implementation of lockdown, began showing results since morning itself.

Mangaluru City Traffic Police and Dakshina Kannada district police erected several pickets at vantage places on arterial roads to check those moving without a valid reason. Several two-wheelers were seized during the checking while a few car drivers were let off with a strict warning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M Manjunatha Shetty, who was supervising a picket at Hampankatta, said that movement of private vehicles has drastically reduced in the city.
