Welfare Kerala Kuwait celebrates Eid-Onam 2017

Welfare Kerala Kuwait, Farwaniya zone celebrated Eid al-Adha and Onam 2017 in an amazing spirit of  harmony, equality, love and brotherhood. People from different religious backgrounds assembled enthusiastically last Friday at Ideal Auditorium, Farwaniya to celebrate the two festivals together with traditional Onasadhya in presence of Mahabali (Maveli thampuran) in his traditional attire.  Welfare Kuwait gave the event a unique name “Einam”, and transformed it in to a beautiful amalgam of various religions and cultures, strongly knitting the bonds of amity and brotherhood.

While Eid al-Adha is celebrated by Muslims all over the world as they come together to pray for humanity, to Commemorate Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) his eventful life with great sacrifice in human history,  and to carry on his message with them, the message of compassion and sacrifice to the will of God; where as Onam is being celebrated to mark the return of the legendary king Mahabali who ruled Kerala with great prosperity, equality and communal amity but sacrificed his life to keep up his words. It is marked as an annual festival celebrated by the people of Kerala and Malyalees living across the globe, arguably the biggest festival of Kerala.

The cultural session of the event, was inaugurated by famous writer Preman Ellath and during inaugural address he said that India has set an important example of communal harmony to this world. India, a multi-religious, multilingual and multi-racial country, has always ‘enjoyed the essential unity of culture amidst diversities that kept her people united. These values are more relevant today than ever and we must come together in our communities and as a society to draw strength from our shared humanity, he continued. 

Suresh V. Balakrishnan, the vice principal of Bhavans and leading mentor of Toastmaster club of Kuwait presented the topic on Onam  and its relevance to the current Indian situation. He told the audience to be vigilant and aware of the modern day “vamanas” who comes in different forms to destroy the very harmonious nature of our country. He also urged the members to take up the role of the great teacher and strategist of Mahabali, the Shukracharya in identifying the shrewd and evil intentions of those politicians who has resemblance to that Vamana who tried to Kill the legendary King Maveli and destroyed the communal harmony and prosperity of the people.  

Welfare Central Committee president Khaleelurahman, working committee member Moidu K. and Islamic Women’s Association (IWA) president Mehbooba Anees were also talked on the cultural event and reiterated the need of bringing back the rich Indian tradition and culture built in communal amity and secularism. The cultural program was followed by verity entertainments, including thiruvathira dance, Oppana, orchestra with nostalgic patriotic songs and children’s dance items.  The 26 lip-smacking, vegetarian dishes prepared by the ladies wing of Welfare Kerala Kuwait was the main attraction and was elegantly served on fresh Green banana leaves in traditional style.   Zonal president Abdul Vahid presided over the function, Zonal Secretary Noushad welcomed the gathering and Riggae Unit President Ashraf Vaakath proposed the vote of thanks.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

On behalf of KSCC, and the entire executive council Mr. Mohammed Ismail, President of Club, extended a very heartly thanks and gratitude to the Main sponsor of the event M/s. EMSQUARE, Engineering Consultant, and Tawakkal Overseas Dubai.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.
