New Delhi, Aug 6: Opposition members on Tuesday raised placards in the Lower House asking “where is Farooq Abdullah — the nation wants to know.”
This was during the discussion on J&K Reorganisation Bill, 2019 introduced by Home Minister Amit Shah.
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary of the Congress, while participating in the discussion, demanded to know why former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and other leaders were under house arrest. We are not getting to know anything,” he says.
Dayanidhi Maran of the DMK said: “An MP is missing and it is the responsibility of the Home Minister and the Speaker to tell the House where he is. The House wants to know.”
Earlier, Sudip Bandyopadhyay of the Trinamool Congress, while stating that his party would not participate in the discussion and would walk out, demanded to know “why have Mufti and Abdullah been unnecessarily arrested?”
Replying to queries on Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Home Minister Amit Shah said he in the Valley "on his free will."
"Farooq Abdullah is neither arrested nor detained," Mr. Shah said.
