Why Aishwarya Rai did not feel absence from films

August 26, 2015

Mumbai, Aug 26: Beauty queen-turned-actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is returning to the big screen after almost five years but she claims that she didn't feel that she was absent from the industry.

Aishwarya"I haven't felt being absent, though going by the time and the number of releases that we do have, of course, I wasn't making movies. But a lot of ladies here who've completely experienced what I'm wonderfully feeling right now will agree that we have no concept of time. We don't realize how time flies by," she said to queries on her absence at the trailer launch of the much-anticipated ‘Jazbaa’ directed by Sanjay Gupta.

Her last film was as a caretaker to Hrithik Roshan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Guzaarish’. She was initially going to star in Madhur Bhandarkar's ‘Heroine’ but backed out due to her pregnancy and the role went to Kareena Kapoor. Duties as a mother to three-year-old Aaradhya kept her busy all these years.

"Being a working mother, I really did not delve into this absence factor. And probably that's why I haven't necessarily focused on the term 'comeback'. There's no going away from it and running away from it. And it will forever be the comeback film. So I'm not denying it but when I turn around and say that I haven't felt it, that's just the way it is," said Aishwarya.

‘Jazbaa’ sees Aishwarya in the role of a lawyer stuck in a conspiracy. Irrfan Khan plays a cop and it also stars Jackie Shroff, Shabana Azmi and Chandan Roy Sanyal among others.

Mumbai, Jul 28: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says he was left in tears as his daughter-in-law, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and granddaughter Aaradhya Bachchan were discharged from hospital after testing negative for coronavirus.

Aishwarya and her eight-year-old daughter, who were shifted to the isolation ward of Nanavati Hospital on July 17, were discharged on Monday.

Amitabh, 77, and his actor-son Abhishek are still in hospital after they were admitted on July 11.

In a post on official blog, the Bollywood veteran said that he became emotional when Aaradhya told him that he would be "back home soon".

"They go home, the little one and Bahurani... and the tears flow out... the little one embraces and tells me not to cry... 'You’ll be home soon', she assures... I must believe her," he said.

On Monday, Abhishek had said that he and his father were still under the care of medical staff at the Nanavati Hospital's isolation ward.

"My father and I remain in hospital under the care of the medical staff. Thank you all for your continued prayers and good wishes. Indebted forever," the 44-year-old actor tweeted.

Both Amitabh and Abhishek have been sharing their health updates with fans on various social media platforms.

Last week, Amitabh had dismissed reports that he had finally tested negative for coronavirus, calling the piece of news "an incorrigible lie".

Mumbai, May 17: TV actor Manmeet Grewal, who worked on shows like "Aadat Se Majboor" and "Kuldeepak", committed suicide after struggling with dwindling finances amid lockdown, family friend-producer Manjit Singh Rajput said.

Grewal, who was originally from Punjab, hanged himself on Friday night at his Kharghar residence here where he lived with his wife. He was 32.

Rajput, who had known Grewal for nearly seven years, said the actor was facing "financial crisis" and wasn't able to earn due to the lockdown.

"He was going through a major financial issue and he was also in depression. The added pressure of not being able to repay loans amid this (no work phase) got to him. His wife is completely shocked and devastated," Rajput told PTI.

The producer said last rites of the actor were performed on Saturday.

Grewal was working on projects like a webseries and some commercials, which were put on hold due to the nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
