Will convince mutt seers to call off agitation for separate state: Yeddy

Bengaluru, Jul 30: BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, on Monday, stated that he will visit Belagavi on Tuesday and convince the heads of various mutts to call off their agitation for a separate North Karnataka state.

In a press statement, Yeddyurappa blamed Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for the current unrest in North Karnataka.

He referred to the issue wherein, Kumaraswamy reportedly told North Karnataka farmers that they had no moral right to demand crop loan waiver because they had not voted for JD(S) in the Assembly polls.

Kumaraswamy was trying to divide the state for the sake of power and survival, Yeddyurappa stated.

The BJP always stood for a united Karnataka and at no cost will it support the division of the state, Yeddyurappa stated.

Politician considering power as a job. If they have power/came into power, they will use and do temporary solution. If they are not ruling, they dont have any loyalty towards people. They will put everything on ruling govt, sit back, enjoys and most of the time makes the situation worst to get attention towards them, like Yeddy doing now

Mangaluru, Mar 23: In its efforts to contain the outbreak of COVID-19, the district administration has ordered that all shops and establishments selling essential commodities to remain open only between 0600 hrs and 1200 hrs from Tuesday till March 31.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release here, announced that autorickshaws and taxis should not ferry passengers and should be utilised only during emergencies and for transportation of essential commodities among others.

Ms Sindhu has also ordered shutting down industries. Only those industries involved in the production of essential commodities, medicines, medical instruments, medicine, fuel, farm produce among others had been exempted, Please log in to get detailed story.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: Following the alarming increase in Coronavirus cases, Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Monday said that those subjected to home quarantine stamping would be arrested if they were found to visit public places.

"5,000 Home quarantine stamping was carried to ensure that they remain in home and not to be seen in public places for their own interest as well as in an attempt to prevent spread of Coronavirus", he tweeted.

"I have received information on some of those stamped are moving in BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses and sitting in restaurants. Please call 100, these people will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine," Rao said.

Bengaluru, Jan 3: The Karnataka high court on Thursday issued notices to the Railway Board and the South Western Railways on a petition seeking review of superfast surcharge being levied on passengers in Malgudi Express train.

Petitioner and Mysurubased advocate Mohammed Dastagir, in a public interest litigation claimed that as per the circular issued by the Railway Board on December 10, 2006, Malgudi Express — which runs from Mysuru to Yelehanka — is not designated as a superfast train and despite the same, the authorities are illegally collecting additional charges known as supplementary charges ranging from Rs 15 to Rs 75 from passengers.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka posted the petition to second week of February.
