Mangaluru, Dec 8: The Social Democratic Party of India has taken strong objection to the clearance of the cabinet to pass Citizenship Amendment Bill effecting a change into the Citizenship Act 1955.

Addressing a press conference here Elyas Muhammad Thumbe, president of SDPI’s Karnataka state unit, said that the BJP government’s move was politically motivated and in clear violation of the spirit of the constitution that are ‘Equal Rights to all’ and ‘Everyone is equal before law’.

“This is BJP’s conspiracy to turn this country from secular to communal. Thus it is debarring Muslims from equal rights as enshrined and guaranteed in the constitution of India,” he said.

He said, SDPI would organize systematic fight against this agenda of BJP. SDPI would never allow to realize the agenda of BJP to destruct the pluralism and integrity of this nation.

“The NRC conducted in Assam has declared 19 lakhs Indian citizens as illegal migrants. This has created deep panic in Assam. This process of NRC has taken several years in Assam and consumed 1600 crores of rupees and 62,000 human resource.”

“These kind of disturbances incurred heavy losses to the nation and created mistrust and panic among the citizen of this country. Now, the government is trying to impose an amendment to Citizenship Act to provide citizenship to those migrants only on the basis of religion which is strongly condemnable. SDPI will fight unto last against such kind of conspiracies unitedly and with commitment,” he said.

He said: “27 years have been passed to the destruction of Babri Masjid. Unfortunately and agonizingly, yet, proper justice is not delivered. Though the clear title deeds, records, historical proofs and live proofs were submitted to the courts, the land of the Babri Masjid is awarded to Ramlalla. This verdict is unilateral and against to the principles of Indian constitution and against natural justice. SDPI has been conducting protests against this injustice across the country and the progressive organization and other social organizations are supporting our agitations. AT this juncture, SDPI demands justice to Babri Masjid, and punishment to the culprits of demolition of Babri Masjid,” he said.

SDPI leaders Ashraf Machar, Athavulla Jokatte Iqbal Bellare, Suhail Khan and Muneeb Bengre were present.

Varanasi, Jan 20: An FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons for a controversial hoarding near the Varanasi railway station. It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is the MP of Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency.

The hoarding near the Englishiya Line crossing read, "Hindu dharma mein ghar vapasi karo... CAA, NRC se chhutkara pao (Get rid of CAA, NRC by converting to Hinduism)".

Inspector Ashutosh Ojha said that the FIR under section 295 A and 505 of IPC has been lodged.

"Investigation has been launched in the case and those involved in putting up the hoarding would be identified soon," he added.

According to sources, a lesser known outfit, Hindu Samaj Party, had placed the hoarding on the busy road.

The outfit's state Vice President Roshan Pandey had made a video viral on social media with his message in which he claimed to have put up the hoarding in response to the protest being staged at Shaheen Bagh, New Delhi.

The hoarding, which also has photographs of some Muslim women wearing saffron pagdi, was removed by the police late Saturday evening.

It came up at a time when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Smriti Irani and other leaders were in Varanasi to address a rally in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University.

Pandey, along with his supporters, had also tried to stage a sit-in at Lanka to give a call for marching to Shaheen Bagh in Delhi but was prevented by the police.

They were taken in custody and were later released following initial interrogation, said inspector Lanka, Bharat Bhushan.
