Yeddy asks BJP candidates to woo Dalits, backward classes to win Karnataka polls

Bengaluru, Apr 12: Karnataka BJP president B S Yeddyurappa has warned his party’s candidates that they would not get expected results in the Assembly elections if they failed to woo Dalits and backward classes in their constituencies.

Speaking at a pre-poll workshop of the BJP on election management, the former chief minister stressed the need for taking all the communities with the party to counter popular leaders like Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Thanking the party high command for continued support, he said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah are touring the State extensively to rout the Congress. Similarly, the central leaders are touring all the Assembly constituencies and monitoring our activities.”

Continuing his attack at Siddaramaiah, he said the defeat of the Congress would begin from the Chief Minister’s home district of Mysuru. “People of the State are disgusted with the Congress government and the Chief Minister is finding it difficult to retain his existence in his Assembly constituency,” he said.

Yeddyurappa urged the party workers and leaders to dedicate their full time for the party organisation for about a month, till the completion of the elections.

Mangaluru airport bomb planter Aditya Rao surrenders; calls it act of revenge

Bengaluru, Jan 22: The suspected man in planting of a live bomb at the Mangaluru International Airport surrendered before the DG and IG of Karnataka Police, Neelamani Raju, here on Wednesday, police sources said.

The accused was identified as Aditya Rao, a resident of Udupi.

The accused was taken for questioning by the Halasurugate Police, where he was being interrogated intensively, the sources further said.

According to them, he confessed that he planted an explosive device at Mangaluru Airport on Monday said that it was an act of revenge for denying him an employment by the Kempegowda International Airport Limited (KIAL).

He was arrested by the Bengaluru police in the past for making a hoax call to the police stating that a bomb had been planted at the Bengaluru Airport.

Karnataka Home minister Basavaraj Bommai told the media that 'the Bengaluru police have taken the custody of Aditya Rao, who is being subjected for a thorough interrogation'.

The Mangaluru police was also likely to join the Bengaluru police into the investigation, the sources added.

This would have been a false flag operation, if he was not caught, they would have been an explosions and Dr.police would have put muslim youths behind bars...or that was the intention/plan but due to unforseen reasons failed......i hope someone comes out with the truth..

if he were to be a muslim, he would have benn branded terrorist. revenge and all these expalnations are just excuses. investigate from where an dhow he got bombs.

Bomb has weaken once bomber name appears. Now time for fact finding, family emotions, personal attachments etc. If he was Muslim it would have connected to ISIS, Anti-CAA, Pakistan, Kerala..

Businessman seeking fancy mobile number loses Rs 65K to online fraudsters

Bengaluru, Jun 9: A 42-year-old founding director of an engineering consultancy firm lost Rs 65,000 to online fraudsters who posed as representatives of a mobile service provider and lured him with the offer of a fancy number recently.

Asif (name changed) received a text message on May 19, informing him that a platinum number, 9099999999, was available and interested people could dial a mobile number to avail it.

“Asif, who runs a mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering consultancy near Shivajinagar, decided to get the fancy mobile number. He called the number and the receiver said they would generate an invoice for his request. After a fake invoice for Rs 64,900 was generated, Asif paid the money through online transaction that day. Asif waited for two weeks for the SIM card with the fancy number to reach him,” an officer said.

East CEN Crime police registered a case of cheating under section 420 of IPC and sections under the Information Technology Act after Asif lodged a complaint on June 6.

Covid-19 Task Force aims to conduct 80,000 tests over next three weeks

Bengaluru, Apr 6: The Covid-19 Task Force aims to conduct 80,000 throat swab and blood tests over the next three weeks here.

According to Task Force Nodal Officer C N Manjunath an order for one lakh anti-body test kits has been placed, and was expected to arrive on April 12.

"From January 20 to March 23, more than 1.2 lakh people arrived at international airports from abroad. Of these, we have kept 37,358 under observation. The Health officials and personnel in fever clinics and hospitals are being trained to conduct the tests. There is no necessity to obtain a clearance to test people with suspected infection. Only laboratories need to get permission to test their blood and throat swab samples."
