Yenepoya Deemed University organizes training programme on cloth bag making

Mangaluru, Nov 27: To spread awareness against the use of polythene carry bags the Centre for Environmental Studies of Yenepoya Deemed-to-be University organized training in a “Bag Making” for the staff on Monday, November 25, 2019. There were about forty participants for the training programme.

Mrs. Harina J. Rao was the resource person for the training programme. She is expert in artificial jewellery, quilling, quilt making, fabric jewellery, craft items etc. A cancer survivor, after her chemotherapy and surgery, Mrs. Harina has taken up handicrafts making and teaching, which were earlier her hobbies. Her husband is Dr. Jayaprakash is the Medical Superintendent and Professor of Forensic Science at A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences. She has conducted more than 1000 training sessions. She has trained many women under government schemes (skill development). She conducts summer camps for children. 

Mrs. Harina taught the participants how to make different bags using cloth material. “A healthier option for plastic bag is the use of cloth bags, which is the most sustainable and green option for us,” she said.  She also motivated the participants, speaking on commitment and determination to achieve their dreams. The staff actively participated in the programme

Dr. Bhagya B. Sharma introduced the guest and underlined the need to give up the use of plastic bags, which were causing damage to the environment. She urged everyone to switch over to alternative products such as cloth bags. “The need of the hour is to ensure that only eco-friendly bags are used by people. By adopting alternatives, we can soon emerge as clean, green, pollution-free and plastic-free society,” she said.

Mangaluru, Jan 14: The Star Education Institute organized Talents day celebration on 14th January 2020.

This program was presided by Janab Muhammed Saleem Malar, the Director of Star Education Institute, who gave the message about the encouragement of students talent.

The Chief guest of today’s program was Sunil Kumar Bajal , Ex- President old students union Mangaluru, who gave a message about Young generation and their role in the development of the nation.

Mrs. Prabha Naveen, Principal of Star Education Institute who gave the report of the activities of the Institute.

Mohammed Fatheen SPL and Zohara Farahath Secretary were also present on the dias.

Miss. Raksha P. J Science faculty welcomed the gathering. Miss Dipthi D’silva, Commerce faculty and Miss. Thanushree Computer faculty call out the prize list. Mrs. Deepa Lokanath, Commerce faculty proposed a vote of thanks. This programme was anchored by Mrs. Mohini. S. Thereafter the cultural programme was presented by the students.

Mangaluru: As many as 22 students of Shakti PU College wrote second PUC exams and from that 8 students passed 
with distinction, 14 students passed with first class, and achieved 100% results in 
science and commerce streams.

Fathima, Pratheek S, Rajath R Gujaran, Uruthik, Riza Basheer, Saania Eraam, Shreya 
Somanna, P.B. Sayyed Mohammed Moosa, Viba S, passed with first class,

College Director Dr. K.C. Naik, Secretary Sanjith Naik, Advisory chairman Ramesh K, 
College development Officer Prakiyath Rai, College Principal Prabhakar J.S. and 
Shakthi Residential College principal Vidya G Kamath, praised all the students for their 
performance and also to their teaching staff, who put their efforts and hard works to 
bring their students to this level.
