Youth held with 7kg ganja

Kasaragod, Aug 3: The police arrested a youth while smuggling 7 kg ganja in a car at Chevar, near Kumbla, here on Thursday.

On a tip-off provided by Superintendent of Police A. Srinivass, a team led by Kumbla Circle Inspector K. Premsadan arrested Hussain, 23, a resident of Paivalige panchayat.

The narcotic was found concealed in the rear seat of the car, which was impounded by the police. The youth was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded in judicial custody.

Belagavi, Jan 16: Six Poachers were arrested in two different cases at Gollahalli forest range in Kittur section in the district on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Bharmesh alias Bharmappa Hanumant Bhajantri, Mallesh Hanumant Bhajantri residents of Budanakatti in Bailahongal Taluk.

Another alleged accused Yuvraj Basappa Bhajantri managed to escape.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.
