Youth rapes girl, uploads nude pictures on social media

Youth_rapes_girlImphal, Jan 3: A youth allegedly sedated his woman friend, raped her and took her nude pictures which he uploaded on a social networking site, police said on Friday.

Allam Rajak Makakmayum raped the Mainipuri girl, with whom he had a year-long friendship, after making her unconscious in a lodge at Tura in Meghalaya in September 2012, police said, quoting the complainant.

Promising to marry her later, Allam left for Pune where he was a post-graduate student, they said.

The victim, a college student in Tura, returned home on a vacation in Thoubal district of Manipur and found her nude pictures in a social networking site on December 20 last year, they said.

Police is looking for the offender who also hails from Manipur.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.

Behrampur, Jun 7: A migrant labourer spent two days in jungle after allegedly being denied entry to a quarantine centre and his village in Behrampur.

According to a local from the village, no one helped the labourer. "He came from Chennai. He went to the police and block office but no one helped. Then, he went to the jungle."

Later, the police took him to the quarantine centre.

As per the Union Health Ministry, there are 2,608 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Odisha, including 996 active cases, 1,604 recovered/discharged/migrated and 8 deaths.
