Yuvraj Singh’s 358-run knock in MS Dhoni biopic actually happened

October 6, 2016

New Delhi, Oct 6: It's been six days since the biopic based on MS Dhoni's life 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' released and in this short span the movie has racked up a box office collection of Rs 88.63 cr. The movie, which depicts Dhoni's journey to India's World Cup winning captain and sporting icon of the country since Sachin Tendulkar, is most definitely a must watch for cricket lovers.

Apart from the stellar acting by lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput as Dhoni, and true to the title, the untold story of Dhoni's humble beginnings, the one other aspect of the movie that is being well appreciated is the role and significance of Yuvraj Singh, played by Herry Tangri. Tangri has been lauded for his acting in which he portrays a young Yuvraj. His striking resemblance and near perfect mannerisms of the Punjab player is one of the best parts of the movie.

Among the many stories that unravel in the movie, one is about Dhoni's first meeting with his future India teammate in Under-19 Cooch-Behar trophy final between Bihar and Punjab from 1999 played at the Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur.

The movie showcases Dhoni's batting on Day 1 of the match. He remains unbeaten on 70 at the end of day's play. But in the next scene Dhoni is in his friend's home apparently in shock of what happened in the subsequent days of the match.

Describing the match, Dhoni, played by Rajput tells his friends that on day two he got out on 84 and then the team was all out for 357. Punjab lost their first wicket on 60, then Yuvraj Singh came out to bat. At stumps on Day 2 their score was 108/1 and in the entire day three's play only one Punjab wicket fell. At the end of Day 3, Punjab's score was 431/2, Yuvraj scored a double century. Last day, Punjab's total was 839 and Yuvraj alone scored 358, one run more than Bihar's team total.

So did Yuvraj really score 358 to help Punjab 839 runs. The numbers are so staggering that it is hard to believe, right? But it did happen and here is the proof:

Washington D.C., Jan 16: Barbara Broccoli, who has since long been the producer of the James Bond franchise, recently clarified in an interview that the 007 character won't be played by a woman in the forthcoming rendition.

Broccoli, accompanied by her half brother and fellow producer Michael G. Wilson, told Variety: "He can be of any color, but he is male."

She went on to say: "I believe we should be creating new characters for women -- strong female characters. I'm not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that."

According to Fox News, the current Bond hero, Daniel Craig, announced last November that he would cease to play the legendary character once he is done with the upcoming 'No Time To Die' movie that is scheduled for release in coming April.

Commenting on Daniel parting ways with the franchise, Broccoli said: "I'm in total denial. I've accepted what Daniel has said, but I'm still in denial. It's too traumatic for me."

Fox News reported last July that the British Actress Lashana Lynch could possibly star in the 2020 Bond flick, but such speculations were dispelled once the trailer for the movie was brought out last December.

Washington, Jun 11: Music maestro AR Rahman has joined the international film 'No Land's Man' as co-producer and composer.

Helmed by renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, the upcoming movie has Indian thespian Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Australian theatre actor Megan Mitchell, and Bangladeshi musician and actor Tahsan Rahman Khan in pivotal roles.

"Time always gives birth to new worlds, new ideals. The newborn world has new challenges and new stories to tell. This is one such story," Variety quoted Rahman as saying.

The movie chronicles the life of a South Asian, whose journey gets complicated when he meets an Australian woman in the U.S.

The film, shot in the U.S., Australia and India, is predominantly in English with some dialogue in Hindi and Urdu.

'Sacred Games' actor, Siddique said: "The filming experience for this project was challenging but a fulfilling one. AR Rahman's brilliance will definitely make the film richer."

"Farooki and I first spoke about 'No Land's Man' at Film Bazaar in 2014. Between then and now, the film has become even more relevant as it looks at what it means to be a vulnerable person in a racially-divided world," producer Srihari Sathe said.

'No Land's Man' won the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and Asia Pacific Screen Awards' Script Development fund in 2014. It was part of the Asian Project Market at Busan and was chosen as the best project at India's Film Bazaar the same year.

Earlier in January, Siddiqui posted multiple pictures on Instagram with the team of the flick, marking the schedule wrap in New York and Sydney for 'No Land's Man.'

He also captioned the post as: "Wonderful experience with the most energetic team."
