The victim has been identified as Shiny Kiran K, a resident of Ulsoor, and a student of a private pre-university college. The tragedy occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday on Old Madras road in Indiranagar Traffic police station limits.

According to an eye witness who has lodged a complaint the biker was performing wheelies with Shiny riding pillion. While they were passing Gopalan Mall in front of RMZ, he lost control of the speeding bike and she fell down.

A speeding Canter which was coming behind ran over her. The biker, who escaped with minor injuries, fled on his bike. The locals rushed Shiny to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.

"The biker did not stop the vehicle when the girl fell on the road and the Canter driver also escaped. Traffic came to a halt for some time and the Traffic police who rushed to the spot cleared the way. The CCTV camera in a nearby mall may have captured the tragic incident," an eye witness said.

Indiranagar Traffic police have launched a hunt for the biker. They said they have got the CCTV footage to identity him.

In an effort to prevent road accidents in the cyber city, the Bengaluru police recently said they would crack down on two-wheeler riders who perform dangerous stunts in public areas and on arterial roads.

Mangaluru, May 26: Days after the government of India approved the use of chartered flights for the repatriation of Indians stranded across the world amidst covid-19 lockdown, two NRI entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia have offer to bear the cost of repatriation if they get formal green signal to repatriate stranded Indians from Dammam to Mangaluru International Airport before June 5.

Althaf Ullal and Basheer Sagar, the two Kannadiga Directors of Al Khobar-based Saqco, have made this offer in a letter written to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The duo have assured that their company will bear the cost of the first chartered flight from Dammam to Mangaluru if the government paves way for its operation by June 5.

It is learnt that many private airliners have come forward to operate chartered flight and are waiting for final clearance from the government. It will cost approximately Rs 45 lakh to hire chartered flight with 180 capacity from Dammam to Mangaluru.

Pregnant women, medical emergency cases, senior citizens on visit visas, those who lost jobs due to lockdown among other stranded Indians will be given priority in this flight, they said.

"Our company will completely bear this cost. Passengers only need to bear the cost of institutional quarantine after reaching Mangaluru," they have clarified.

Bengaluru, Jun 11: Within hours after claiming that it has decided to prohibit schools from schools from conducting online classes till Class 7, the Karnataka government has taken a U-turn and said that currently than ban is only till Class 5.

“Karnataka Govt has decided to stop all online classes for LKG, UKG & classes up to 5th std. To extend this up to 7th std is only a suggestion from few cabinet ministers as expressed in an informal discussion and NOT a decision,” tweeted Prime and Secondary Minister Suresh Kumar.

Law Minister J C Madhuswamy earlier today had stated that the decision to ban online classes till 7th standard was taken by the government.  "All of us were of the opinion that there were challenges faced by students studying in rural areas. Hence, we urged the government to extend the ban on online classes till 7 standard," he said
