As predicted by the political observers, the Congress party has reduced the number of Muslim candidates and increased the number of Lingayat candidates for the 2018 Karnataka assembly polls, compared to the 2013 polls.

The Congress, which recently released the list of 218 candidates, has given first priority to Other Backward Classes. As many as 52 OBC candidates have secured place in the list. The Lingayat candidates are second highest in number (48), followed by Vokkaligas (39), SCs (36) and STs (17). Muslims have secured only 15 tickets. The party is yet to announce candidates for six more seats.

Though a recent caste survey has revealed that Karnataka has more Muslim population than Lingayats, the Congress has fielded less Muslim candidates this time. In 2013, there were 19 candidates in the fray. This time their number is only 15.

In 2013, the Congress had fielded 44 candidates from the Lingayat community, including five from the Reddy Lingayats. For the 2018 polls, 48 Lingayat candidates are in the fray, including six from the Reddy Lingayat community.

Congress has / will rule the country using expert's judgnement and analytical thinking. Although some corruption happened, when it comes public matter; they do care.

See other party members, they gave statement whatever comes from their mind, without thinking. They dont care whether it will hurt to any ordinary person or any community.

congress thinking Muslims votes are secured to their party, but this is foolishness for them. This election they are understood about who are Muslims and how to treat them on next election.

Udupi, Jul 22: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh on Wednesday announced lifting of ban on movement of people and vehicles with immediate effect in the borders of Kerala which was banned during lockdown.

The announcement comes hours after Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced that lockdown in Bengaluru and other parts of the state will not be extended any further, suggesting people should wear masks and maintain physical distancing strictly.

Mr Jagadeesh noted that although the seal down of the borders of the district would be lifted, checkposts on the border would be set up and urged people to enter the district only in case of emergency.

Bengaluru, Jun 27: Announcing Karnataka’s ambitious plan to install a 108-ft-tall statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda outside the airport, deputy chief minister Ashwath Narayan said the government will bear the project cost — approximately Rs 78 crore.

Work on the project will formally commence with the chief minister laying foundation stone for installation of the statue and development of a 23-acre park where it will come up, on Saturday.

How soon we get a coronavirus vaccine depends on not only the pace of work in research labs, but also the preparedness of factories supplying glass vials, stoppers and syringes

KPCC president DK Shivakumar on Thursday suggested the cost be borne by Kempegowda International Airport and not the government. He wrote to the CM welcoming the decision to erect a statue of the chieftain at KIA, but asked why should the govenment spend on it. “When huge concessions have been provided to KIA, why not use its services to construct the statue,” he asked. Narayan, who is chairman of Kempegowda Development Authority, said it is the government’s duty to bear the cost.

The government has released sketches of the statue and a blueprint of the park. Noted sculptor Ram Sutar, who designed the Gandhi statue located between Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha and the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, will be part of this project as well.

Narayan said the government was not competing with any other state on having a tallest/largest statue while emphasising that Kempegowda ensured the city had tanks, markets and drainage system when it was founded. He added the government won’t invite many guests to Saturday’s ceremony. “Most legislators will be given a virtual link to view the event,” he said.

When the economic situation is very bad they are wasting people's money on these things now! These statues can be built when the peoples' basic things are first fulfilled. The title of this topic should be "People to bear the burden of Rs.78 crore", there is nothing like governments money, it's all belong to people.

Our ruling govt is only interested in RAM Mandir and spending crores of rupees for the temple. Why the other community is not demanding fund from the GOVT?

Not bothered about the development of the country as currently we have no idea how to tackle the corona viurs. Ministers are keen on builing Guest house for pilgrims, Statue of RAM etc etc.

Please concentrate on how to minimise the Virus issue in KARNAKATA like other Gulf countries.
