Mangaluru, Jan 9: Mata Amritanandamayi is on a visit to the city to attend the two-day Brahmasthana Mahotsava and Amrita Sangama programmes.

Speaking at the beginning of the Mahotsava, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade said he was impressed by the qualities of Mata Amritanandamayi, who blessed devotees irrespective of their caste, creed or religion, and guided her disciples in the right way. India has the unique tradition of guru-shishya system, he said.

In her address, Mata Amritanandamayi said one should accept with smile whatever comes in life. One should think positively; anger, jealousy and pride make one sick.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dakshina Kannada MP; J.R. Lobo, Mangaluru South MLA; and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president, were present.

Thousands of devotees have gathered on the mutt premises on Sulthan Bathery Road.

If U dont try to find, what ALLAH says?

Dont live a life of UNAWARE ... Dont fall to the traps of deceivers who play in the minds of the people who are far away from the TRUE CREATOR of all that exists...
TRY to know ALLAH, U will NOT need any intermediatary to reach God in this LIFE. U will have Content in LIFE when we depend on ALLAH.

Mangaluru, Jun 24: An elderly woman who was tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, breathed her last at the designated covid hospital in the city today. 

The deceased 57-year-old woman from Ullal. Her final rites were held as per the guidelines issued by the district administration. 

According to sources, she was admitted to a private hospital in Thokkottu due to diarrhoea. She was treated in that hospital for eight days. 

Meanwhile, her throat swabs were sent for covid test. She received positive report yesterday. Hence she was shifted to covid hospital where she breathed her last without responding to treatment.

Bengaluru, Jan 12: Janata Dal (Secular) chief and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Sunday refuted reports of him contesting in the Rajya Sabha elections and added that he is more concerned about strengthening his party in Karnataka.

"I am not interested in going to Rajya Sabha. My concern is to build and strengthen the party in the region to the best of my ability. I had declared earlier that I will not contest elections anymore," Deve Gowda told ANI here.

"My party MP D Kupendra Reddy is there in the Rajya Sabha as of now and further decisions will be taken by the party. In March 2019, towards the end of the 16th Lok Sabha I had declared that I will not contest any more elections," Deve Gowda added.

Four Rajya Sabha seats in Karnataka are about to fall vacant in June this year as two of Congress, one of BJP and JD(S) MPs retire.

Mangaluru, May 15: Mohammed Kana, son of late Ismail Kana and grandson of late Dr M S Bapanad Mulki passed away in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia due to heart attack on Thursday. He was 57.

Hailing from Mangaluru, Mohammed Kana was working in Saudi Arabia for past 30 years. He is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.

He was involved in various social and welfare activities in India and Saudi Arabia. His tragic demise has left huge vacuum in his family and community at large.
