BJP will secure majority in Karnataka: Tejasvi Surya

New Delhi, Nov 27: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah is living in a cocoon of his own and BJP will secure a majority in the state after the by-polls.

"Siddaramaiah Ji is living in a cocoon of his own.
After the results of bye-elections come next month, Congress will come to know that they will have to continue to sit in the opposition in the state," Surya told ANI.

"The Yediyurappa government in Karnataka is very strong and BJP will win 12 out of the 15 seats that are going to by-polls on December 5," he added.

Siddaramaiah had said that Karnataka will witness mid-term polls as BJP does not have a majority on its own and the Yediyurappa government will fall.

"BJP is spending crores of rupees, we can't compete with that. They are also seeking votes on religious and caste lines. Chief Minister Yediyurappa is openly asking Lingayats to vote for him. All this is a violation of the model code of conduct," Siddaramaiah said.

The bye-elections for 15 out of 17 seats in Karnataka are slated to be held on December 5. The poll body has withheld the elections for two seats -- Maski and Rajarajeshwari -- as petitions against these Assembly constituencies are pending in the Karnataka High Court.

Bengaluru, May 22: Karnataka Congress delegation met Chief Election Commissioner, Dr B Basavaraju in Bengaluru, urging him to guide Karnataka Government to conduct local body elections and not to allow State government to nominate their party men to the local bodies.

The delegation was led by Congress leader Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar.

"They (State government) wants to postpone the election, they have a lot of other provisions. We are demanding to protect the law, the government doesn't have the power to interfere in the system. We will not allow the state government to nominate their party men.

The CM and his entire team is responsible for this, they are killing the democracy and Panchayati Raj system of the State," said Shivakumar while speaking to the reporters.

The local body elections were scheduled to take place in the month of March or April, which were postponed in view of the COVID-19 crisis.

However, the date for conducting the local body elections has not been decided yet.

New Delhi, Jun 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday sought a discussion on advances in telemedicine, the use of "Make in India" products in the healthcare, and the use of IT tools in the medical sector for a healthier society.

Addressing an event at the Rajiv Gandhi Health University in Bengaluru via video conference, he sought a discussion on whether new models can be conceived that make telemedicine popular on a larger scale.

Referring to the "Make in India" program, he said the initial gains made in this field make him optimistic. "Our domestic manufacturers have started production of personal protective equipment and have supplied about one crore PPEs to those in the frontline of fighting COVID-19.

Modi said IT-related tools for healthier societies can be of great help.

"I am sure you have heard of Arogya Setu. Twelve crore health-conscious people have downloaded it. This has been very helpful in the fight against coronavirus," he said.
