BJP’s Hindutva mantra gets louder in DK, Udup as ‘Suraksha Yatra’ enters coastal districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 5: After BJP supremo Amit Shah’s visit to coastal Karnataka, the party leaders have intensified their Hindutva campaign in the region. The party’s Karnataka Suraksha Yatra, which entered Dakshina Kannada districton Sunday, has further energised the saffronists to up ante against the state government by portraying it as an anti-Hindu regime.

On Sunday rallies and public meetings were held in Sullia and Puttur, two sensitive areas of the coastal district as part of the state-wide Yatra entered.  The yatra started from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district on Saturday. It will reach B.C. Roadon Monday via Kalladka.

Addressing the rallies in Sullia and Puttur, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, alleged that Hindus have no security under the Congress-led government in the State as it has failed to control the killings of Hindu youths.

He alleged that the State government has failed to control drug mafia, sand mafia and land mafia.

Pratap Simha, MP, Mysuru said that the yatra is being taken out for the protection of the life of Hindus.

He said that 23 Hindu activists have been murdered in the State under the Congress rule. Mr. Simha took objection to the government withdrawing criminal cases filed against the workers of the KFD.

Sanjeeva Matandoor, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP, and other leaders of the party were present.

Meanwhile, the yatra which began from Ankola on March 3 would enter Udupi district on Monday. Padayatra and public functions would be conducted in Byndoor, Kundapura and Udupi.

The yatra from both the sides would culminate in Nehru Maidan here on March 6. En route from Udupi to Mangaluru on Tuesday, the yatra would halt in Kaup and Mulki.

Dharward, Jul 25: In a shocking incident, a man reportedly killed his wife and daughter by feeding them poison and ended his life by hanging in his house. The incident took place in Dharwad on Saturday. 

The deceased have been identified as Mounesh Pattar (36), his wife Arpita (28) and their four-year-old daughter Sukruta. 

Mounesh was working in a private company in Dharwad and was depressed from the last one week fearing job loss. 

It was alleged that he might lose his job as the management decided to remove more than 40 employees due to covid -19 lockdown.

On Friday late night, he reportedly gave poison to his wife and daughter and later committed suicide by hanging self. The incident came to light on Saturday morning.

A case is registered at Sub Urban police station and further investigation is on.

Hassan, Mar 14: Karnataka Health Department officials took help of the Police to get a man, who returned from pilgrimage to Mecca (Saudi Arabia), admitted to hospital as he refused to undergo clinical tests for suspected Coronavirus, official sources said on Saturday.

According to the sources, a family from Arkalgud taluk, who was on a pilgrimage to Mecca and Madina, returned on March 5 and the woman from the family developed fever and symptoms of flu.

On Friday evening, in view of the Coronavirus scare, a team of Health Department officials visited their house and directed them to get admitted to a hospital in Hassan for treatment.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 25: The government of Kerala under the leadership of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is all set to launch the 'Kerala Dialogue' -- a debate series on new concepts and development models during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A series of visionaries including noted political thinker Noam Chomsky and Nobel-laureate economist Amartya Sen will join this unique initiative that is to be rolled out from Friday.

The debate series to be inaugurated by the CM will feature prominent personalities from various walks of life including scientists, philosophers, diplomats, economists, writers, journalists, activists, technocrats and people's representatives.

The first episode will have Chomsky, Sen and WHO Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan speaking on 'Kerala - Future Paths of Development'. 

State Planning Board vice chairman VK Ramachandran and senior journalist N Ram would be the moderators. The first episode would be telecast through the Chief Minister's official social media accounts.

The coming episodes in the series will also be telecast in the same manner. The government is of the view that the Kerala Dialogue series can ensure debates and dialogues on sustainable and inclusive development on the lines of the Kerala model.
