Mangaluru, Oct 9: Sri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik has urged Hindus to keep swords in their houses for self-protection and to economically boycott Muslims.

Delivering a speech during the Mathru Pooja programme near Kadri Temple in Mangaluru on Sunday he said that Hindus should not hesitate to stock weapons at homes and to worship them during the ‘Ayudha Pooja’.

He said: “Muslims are opposing the construction of Rama Mandir at Ayodhya. They are also opposing the anti-cow slaughter bill. They don’t want to sing Vande Mataram. Until they stop opposing these, Hindus should stop economic activities with them.”

The hardline Hindutva leader said that for all mothers, Indian warrior king Shivaji's mother Jijabai should be an inspiration as she brought him up with stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. "These are bad times and we need to protect ourselves from atrocities, terrorism and corruption," he said.

He said post-Independence, 7 lakh Hindus were driven out of Kashmir. "In Kerala, the population of Hindus has fallen below 50%. Though Muslims have been given permission to build mosques all over the country, it's unfortunate we cannot build the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya," he said.

Giving advices to Hindus, he said: “We need to restrict and check use of mobiles by youths. We need celebrations which start with lighting of lamps and not Father's Day, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day which start with lighting the candle and blowing it out later,'' he said.

Those who alwz call U to EVIL. Then there is alwz a pint of EVIL worship from behind as Devils like to see the bloodshed and to make mockery of the ONE (TRUE) God Worshipers...  ALLAH ask the believer to never fear the creation and the Muslims are not in FEAR of such devilish plan. Quran says they plan and ALLAH plans.. and ALLAH is the best of Planners... We Muslims are not a least worried about such threat.. We have ALLAH with us... What about YOU those who fall trap to such evil chamchas.. who alwz play in your minds... They find it easy to play with your mind is just cos U NEVER try to KNOW who IS the LORD who created U ME and all that exists. Think before they destroy you and your whole Khandan.

Bengaluru, Jun 26: All efforts would be made to control the spread of coronavirus in the city and there will be no fresh lockdown, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Friday said, asserting that improving economic situation of the state is also equally important.

Though the state capital was considered a model for the entire country in COVID management and has seen a spike in cases during the last few days, the pandemic can be controlled if everyone cooperated, he said.

His remarks come a day after Revenue Minister R Ashoka said Bengaluru is still 'safe' compared to the COVID-19 situation in other cities and states and had ruled out a fresh lockdown for now, putting to rest speculations that it was planning such a move in view of spike in cases.

As of Thursday evening, a total of 1,791 COVID-19 cases, including 78 deaths and 505 discharges, had been reported in the city while the state's tally stood at 10,560 compared to just 3,408 cases as on June 1. The state capital has the highest number of cases among the districts.

"There is no question of imposing lockdown for any reason. In some areas (with high case load) we have already implemented lockdown, other than those places there is no question of it being implemented in other places," Yediyurappa told reporters here.

Improving the economic situation of the state was also equally important, he said ahead of his meeting with Ministers, MLAs and MPs of all parties from Bengaluru to discuss measures to control COVID-19.

"I will discuss with all MLAs including those from opposition and Ministers from Bengaluru and come to some decision. With their cooperation we will make all honest efforts to control the pandemic in Bengaluru," he added.

Earlier, there had been intense speculation after some ministers said the government may have to consider re-imposing the lockdown, eased in phases from the middle of last month, in view of continuing spike in new cases in the past several days. Bengaluru was a "model" to the entire country in COVID management, but in recent days cases have increased, Yediyurappa said, adding to control it cooperation from everyone was necessary.

"I have confidence that if everyone (MLAs) pays special attention in their respective assembly constituency, COVID can be controlled," he said. Meanwhile, official sources said the Chief Minister has given Revenue Minister Ashoka the charge of overseeing the COVID management in the city.

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday condemned the decision of the HRD Ministry to drop chapters on citizenship, secularism and federalism from Class 11 political science syllabus, stating that this will "deprive a generation of students from understanding the important pillars of Indian democracy".

"I strongly condemn the decision of @HRDMinistry to drop chapters on citizenship, secularism and federalism. This will deprive a generation of students from understanding the important pillars of Indian democracy. #Stop Saffronisation Of Education," Siddaramaiah tweeted.

The Congress leader further alleged that BJP does not believe in the principles of citizenship, secularism and federalism.

"Chapters on citizenship, secularism and federalism are dropped from Class 11 Pol Science. syllabus. Does this explain something? Yes, it explains that @BJP4India doesn't believe in these principles and validates its past behaviour," he said in another tweet.

Earlier in the day, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank rejected criticism over alleged conspiracy in CBSE's decision to reduce the syllabus of schools due to COVID-19 outbreak and urged the critics to "leave politics out of education".

"There has been a lot of uninformed commentary on the exclusion of some topics from #CBSESyllabus. The problem with these comments is that they resort to sensationalism by connecting topics selectively to portray a false narrative," the Union Minister tweeted.

"It is our humble request:#Education is our sacred duty towards our children. Let us leave politics out of education and make our politics more educated," he added.

The CBSE has revised the syllabus for the classes IX to XII during the academic session 2020-21 in the wake of the situation created by COVID-19.

In a circular issued to all the heads of the institutions affiliated to it, the CBSE had said that the revision of syllabi has been done due to the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and different parts of the world.
