Mangaluru, Jul 9: Udupi-Chikmagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh urging him to ban outfits like Polular Front of India (PFI) and Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and order NIA probe into killings of Hindutva activists in this south Indian state. shobha

The two-page strongly worded latter shared by Ms Karandlaje on her twitter account on Saturday evening, claimed that the ‘Jihadi elements’ murdered 23 RSS/BJP/Hindu activists and attempted to murder 6 more in the last three years.

The MP stated in the letter that she strongly suspected two organizations PFI and KFD for being involved in the killings. “It is blood-bath in Karnataka,” the letter said.

She accused PFI and KFD of turning the Dakshina Kannada district into an experimental laboratory for their communal and fundamentalist jihadi ideologies and said that they ‘want the entire state to be in the vice-grip of the jihadi mafia’.

Further, she said the Karnataka state government had failed to punish the killers and that the chief minister and home minister have always stated the reasons for the murders to be financial factors, local issues or family disputes.

She expressed anger saying that the state cabinet had withdrawn the cases filed against KFD activists in the past. She accused the state government of being indifferent to cruelty and being negligent towards the killings. She also demanded the arrest of those who support organizations like PFI and KFD.

Mangaluru | Miscreants pour kerosene on 200kg beef, thrash driver after waylaying vehicle

Mangaluru, June 21: A gang of miscreants intercepted a goods auto-rickshaw which was legally transporting beef from an abattoir to market and attacked its driver in heart of the city this morning.

The attack comes exactly a week after a gang of Bajrang Dal miscreants thrashed a cattle trader at Urwa while legally transporting four buffalos to Kudroli abattoir on June 13.

Today, a person identified as Abdul Rasheed was transporting around 200 kilograms of beef from Kudroli abattoir to Kankanady market.

Meanwhile, miscreants began to chase beef laden vehicle and managed to waylay it near Highland Hospital. They thrashed Abdul Rasheed and poured kerosene on the beef besides damaging the vehicle.

The miscreants fled in their car and motorbikes after passersby began to gather.

Dear DC Dr. Harsha, we want to know if you will take strict action on these anti nationals / rowdis / day robbers / terrorists who ransacked auto + beaten the auto driwer and stolen Rs. 10,000 from him though he was legally transporting the meat. They same terrorists are involved in transporting live animals to beef export houses in Gujrat owned by Brahmins / Jains. Will you be loyal to your duty and promise. We will see how you will handle the issue failing which you will lose our respect and we will consider you as a dramabaz and phenku. You should follow the law and treat everyone equally. There should not be any pity on goondas/ terrorists belonging to sangh parivar. The terrorists who thrashed the auto driver and damaged the auto and burnt the meat by pouring kerosene are not human beings and should be treated as anti nationals + terrorists. 'Cancel licence of hospitals, medical colleges that did not hand over 50 pc beds to govt'

Bengaluru, Jul 13: Karnataka Deputy chief minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan on Monday urged chief minister BS Yediyurappa to cancel the license of private hospitals and private medical colleges which did not hand over their 50 per cent beds, to the government, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister's Office said.

On June 26, the Karnataka government reserved about 50 per cent for COVID-19 patients in some private hospitals in Bengaluru.

Earlier in the day, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the state government should provide vitamin C drug, Ayush Ministry-certified immunity boosters and sanitisers to every household in the wake of the coronavirus spread.

According to the Union Health Ministry, Karnataka has recorded 38,843 cases of COVID-19 to date.

Mangaluru: 10-month-old corona patient recovers, discharged along with mother

Mangaluru, Apr 12: A 10-month-old baby who tested COVID-19 positive on March 27 completed treatment and discharged from hospital on Saturday.

He was the youngest positive case in Karnataka, from Sajipanadu village in Bantwal taluk.

The child had been with his mother to a relative's house at Monetepadau village, situated on the Karnataka-Kerala border in the first week of March.

A few days later the child developed an acute respiratory illness and tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Treating the breastfeeding child was challenging for doctors as he had to be isolated. A team of doctors from Wenlock Hospital took up this challenge and successfully cured the baby.

Test reports on his mother and grandmother too have returned negative. They too had been under quarantine and were discharged with the baby.

Another positive development was that no COVID-19 case has been reported from the child's village.

The entire Sajipanadu village was completely sealed after the child tested positive and the district had provided all the necessary supplies to the villagers.
