Facepalm moment for Amit Shah as Karnataka CM gives it back to him on Twitter

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah’s reply to Bharatiya Janata Party supremo Amit Shah on Twitter after the latter accused the former of indulging in corruption has gone viral on social media. Siddaramaiah not only challenged Shah to present evidence to prove the allegations made against him but also reminded that the latter was a jailbird.

During a rally in Mysuru on Thursday Shah had accused the Siddaramaiah government of being “synonymous with corruption” and also accused him of protecting the killers of Hindu activists. That evening, he also tweeted: “Siddaramaiah govt has crossed all limits of corruption. In Karnataka, Siddaramaiah and corruption are synonyms. Siddaramaiah means corruption and corruption means Siddaramaiah.”

On Friday morning, Siddaramaiah tweeted: “Says an ex-jailbird, who chose another former jailbird to be his party’s CM candidate for our Karnataka election. Can he present facts about the so-called corruption charges against me or my govt.? Just telling lies won’t help. People will not believe his #jumlas.”

This was a dig at Shah being in judicial custody in 2010 in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, and to the party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa’s arrest in 2011 in connection with the irregularities in denotification of land.

Siddaramaiah also replied to a tweet by Kannada activist Ganesh Chetan criticising Amit Shah for being silent on the Mahadayi issue during his speech in Mysuru. The Chief Minister shot back: “Not his fault! Nobody told him about #Mahadayi. He reads an outdated speech about Tipu, corruption & a fictitious ₹2 lakh crore that the Central govt. supposed to have given us. @AmitShah ravare, next time please read about #Mahadayi before coming here.”

Shah’s visit to Mysuru came on a day when the State was witnessing a bandh over the Mahadayi water-sharing issue with Goa.

BJP is a stinking and sinking ship in Karnataka whose leaders are corrupt, criminals, immoral gangs are in deep shi..The fear of Siddaramaiah, his popularity, people friendly schems and a clean administration worriying these good for nothing culprits who looted the state during their tenure. People understand BJP's frustration and Criminal Leader's open call to its cadres to commit violence in the state to divide people and garner votes. Karnataka is NOT Gujrat, it will not work here.

Mandya, Jun 13: Degree colleges will begin classes after the lockdown is lifted and dates for examinations will be announced later, said deputy chief minister CR Ashwath Narayan on Friday.

Speaking at College of Agriculture, Mandya (VC Farm) on Friday, Ashwath Narayan said the lockdown will be completely phased out on June 30 and degree colleges will begin classes after that. “We will speak with all stakeholders to chalk out measures as to how to reopen degree colleges amidst coronavirus scare. All students must continue their studies and be prepared for exams,” he said.

Narayan said the cabinet has approved to upgrade VC Farm as a university and an ordinance will soon be promulgated in this regard. “There is a need to change the present curriculum to meet present day requirements. VC Farm will be made into a world class agriculture university and a vice chancellor will be appointed,” he said.

“Apart from traditional education, we must concentrate on skill-based education as it should create more job opportunities. We are committed to establish more skill-based educational institutes in Mandya district,” Narayan said.

Later Narayan visited Shivaragudda near Maddur and inspected 48 acres of government land which could be used for establishing skill-based education institutions. “This land was earlier used for imparting skill-based education in a collaboration with Denmark. Sir M Visvesvaraya had established skill-based institutions here in 1923 and now they have become defunct. The then prime minister of Denmark had inaugurated this century old institution. We will revive it and this will help local youths,” he said.

‘Ticket promised only to R Shankar’

When asked, Narayan said R Shankar, who quit the Congress-JD(S) coalition and joined BJP will be given a party ticket to contest the legislative council election. “Except Shankar, the high command did not promise council tickets to those who quit congress and JD(S) and joined our party. It is true that there is hectic lobbying in BJP to get tickets,” he said.

Lucknow, Feb 24: The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board on Monday accepted the five acres of land provided for construction of the mosque in Ayodhya.

The Board also decided to form a trust to oversee the construction of the mosque.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Board's Chairman Zufar Faruqui.

Apart from this, the trust will also construct a charitable hospital, public library and a centre showcasing the heritage of Indo-Islamic civilisation which will also serve as a research and study centre for the same, according to a press release by the board.

The appointment of members to the trust will be announced following its creation, the release added.

The Supreme Court had on November 9 last year directed the Central government to hand over the disputed site at Ayodhya for the construction of a temple and set up a trust for the same.

The apex court had further directed the government to allocate an alternative five acres of land at a prominent location in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque to the Sunni Waqf Board.
