Will convince mutt seers to call off agitation for separate state: Yeddy

Bengaluru, Jul 30: BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, on Monday, stated that he will visit Belagavi on Tuesday and convince the heads of various mutts to call off their agitation for a separate North Karnataka state.

In a press statement, Yeddyurappa blamed Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for the current unrest in North Karnataka.

He referred to the issue wherein, Kumaraswamy reportedly told North Karnataka farmers that they had no moral right to demand crop loan waiver because they had not voted for JD(S) in the Assembly polls.

Kumaraswamy was trying to divide the state for the sake of power and survival, Yeddyurappa stated.

The BJP always stood for a united Karnataka and at no cost will it support the division of the state, Yeddyurappa stated.

Politician considering power as a job. If they have power/came into power, they will use and do temporary solution. If they are not ruling, they dont have any loyalty towards people. They will put everything on ruling govt, sit back, enjoys and most of the time makes the situation worst to get attention towards them, like Yeddy doing now

Mangaluru, Jul 8: A corporator and a staff in Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have tested positive for the coronavirus. 

The woman corporator, who was under home quarantine for past few days ago, received her covid test report today. 

A staff of health department who works in MCC also tested positive for the covid-19. 

The woman corporator had recently attended a primary health centre meeting. A person who had attended the meeting was later tested positive. Hence the corporator was placed under home quarantine.

Bengaluru, May 26: The Karnataka government has decided cancel summer vacation for undergraduate and post-graduate students and universities during the 2020-21 academic year in the wake of severe academic loss due to COVID-19 lockdown.

Keeping in mind the loss of academic days due to the lockdown to contain the pandemic, the Higher Education Department has decided to go in for ‘Zero Vacation’. 

The state government decided to cancel all holidays particularly the summer holidays after holding a series of meetings with the Vice Chancellors and other academicians from various parts of the state.

The decision was also communicated during the review meeting of the Higher Education Department held by CM Yediyurappa on Tuesday in Bengaluru.

Udupi, Jul 26: Two persons including a lady doctor have been arrested by the Kaup police in Udupi district for trying to use fake salary documents to avail loan from a bank to buy a car. 

According to police, on July 24, the doctor had visited Bank of Baroda's branch office at Kaup Moodabettu. She had approached the branch manager for a car loan for herself and her brother. She claimed that her monthly salary is Rs 2.66 lakh.

The bank verified the details furnished along with the loan application. The bank found that even though the doctor had furnished salary slips of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, she was presently not employed there.

The bank manager has filed a complaint at Kaup police station, accusing the doctor of trying to cheat the bank by availing loan on the basis of fake documents.

The police registered a case and nabbed her when she visited the Katapady branch of the same bank today. The police also arrested a man, who according to the doctor, created fake documents for her.
