Udupi, Nov 22: India is the only country in the world where majority community is branded as communal, according Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the contact office of the Dharma Sansad to be held from November 24 to 26, here.

While the majority community or religion in other countries occupied a pride of place, in India, the majority religion/community had been branded as communal. If everyone in the Hindu community became united, it would be possible to overcome the divide and rule policy followed by politicians, he said.

The seer said that the youth of Hindu community had to be made aware of the problems and challenges before society. The majority Hindu community, which formed 85% of the total population during Independence, was now down to 77%. The number of Christians had increased from 3.5 crore to 7.5 crore.

He said that people were making mindless comments on Santana Dharma, without understanding it fully.

Just as elected representatives and the officers had to follow a single Constitution, so too it was in the Hindu religion — though there were 33 crore gods, the main deity was one. People should not feel diffident of their culture and heritage. They should be proud of it, he said.

Inaugurating the contact office, T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education, said that India would emerge as the third largest economy in the world by 2030. It was essential to provide education, shelter and basic facilities to all citizens.

Rajendra Pankaj, secretary of national council of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Gopal, organising secretary of Southern Zone of VHP, P. Vilas Nayak, president of the district unit of VHP, Sharan P., Sunil K.R., Bajrang Dal leaders, were present. M.B. Puranik welcomed the gathering. T.A.P. Shenoy proposed a vote of thanks.

This Seer is misguing common man.   He is talking in favor of Hindutwa run by sangh parivar whereas many Hindus reject this.  Lingayats / low castes  etc. are fed up with these people and trying to come out.  They dont want to be ruled by upper castes.

Swami should recognize & differentiate the hindus and the hindutuva. The hindutuva which is run by the cheddis are degrading the hindus. The cheddis are ruling the so called low caste and other hindus.. Now we clearly know that dalits are suppressed by the upper caste. If they really think that we are all hindus instead of caste discrimination, Let the SWAMI speak this injustice to the hindutuva leaders who alwz use the lower caste hindus to do the evils and we are trapped in the chains of law and the family suffering...

Bengaluru, Jan 14: Days after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) capped to Rs 35,000 the withdrawal limit of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Monday reassured account holders and said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was personally monitoring the issue.

Taking to Twitter, Surya said, "I want to assure all depositors of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank to not panic. Hon'ble Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is appraised of matter and is personally monitoring the issue. She has assured the government will protect interests of depositors. Grateful for her concern."

The Bengaluru South MP also attached a letter in his tweet where he had appraised Sitharaman of the situation.

"Finance Minister, after speaking with the RBI governor and other authorities concerned, assured Surya that the government will do everything in its capacity to protect the interests of the depositors and the long term interests of the bank," the letter read.

It said that Surya also reached out to Sitharaman "three times on January 13" after which she reassured him that the "depositors need not panic".

RBI had, on January 10, imposed certain restrictions on Sri Gururaghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha.

"In particular, a sum not exceeding Rs 35,000 of the total balance in every savings bank or current account or any other deposit account may be allowed to be withdrawn subject to conditions stated in the above RBI directions," the notification said.

The regulatory body said that the bank will continue to undertake banking business with restrictions until its financial position improves.

"These directions shall remain in force for a period of six months from the close of business of January 10 and are subject to review," it said.

The bank has been restricted from granting or renewing any loans and advances, make any investment, incur any liability including borrowal of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits, disburse or agree to disburse any payment whether in discharge of its liabilities and obligations or otherwise, enter into any compromise or arrangement and sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of any of its properties or assets except.

Bengaluru, Jun 17: Amid rising COVID cases in the past two weeks, the Karnataka government is planning to increase testing capacity to 25,000 samples a day, said a minister.

"Due to increase in cases in the last two weeks, the government is trying to scale up testing to 15,000 to 25,000 samples per day," said Medical Education Minister K. Sudhakar.

He said people living in crowded places, sanitation workers, street vendors, healthcare workers, police and other frontline staff would be extensively tested.

"It has also been decided to mandatorily test all those who have symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI)," he said.

Similarly, all people over 50 with ILI symptoms will be tested.

The health department will also randomly test samples in old containment zones to make sure that the infection is not recurring.

Currently, there are 72 Covid testing labs in the southern state, 41 government operated and 31 private labs.

However, for a few days, the number of Covid tests in the state have plummeted.

On Monday, the health department has tested only 5,362 samples across the state.

Likewise, on Tuesday, only 7,936 samples were tested, diverging from earlier weeks when around 10,000 cases were tested on an average.

In all, 4.57 lakh samples have been tested so far, of which 4.39 lakh have tested negative.

Bengaluru, Jan 5: BJP leader and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa once again blamed the Congress of creating 'confusion' among the Muslim community over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act-2019 while launching a door to door campaign to dispel such rumors.

Yediyurappa was on a door-to-door campaign to make people aware of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and to allay their fears.

"Unnecessarily, the members of Congress are creating confusion among the Muslim community. I assure you that not a single Muslim will be affected because of CAA," said B. S. Yediyurappa.

"Almost all previous Prime Ministers have supported it, now Congress is creating a problem so as to create confusion among Muslims. That's why we are out on the door-to-door campaign," he said.

The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
