Jet Airways to connect Mangaluru with more Gulf destinations

Mangaluru, Oct 13: Further expanding its already-extensive network, Jet Airways will operate more flights between south Indian cities like Mangaluru and Middle Eastern destinations in coming days.

jetThe Indo-Gulf route is already among Jet Airways' busiest and the airline has ramped up the number of flights on the sector to meet this growing demand. A high level officer of the private carrier told Coastaldigest.com that it will operate more flights in future from south Indian cities like Managluru, Bengaluru, Kozhikode and Kochi.

He said that on October 30, 2016 Jet Airways will launch a daily service from Kozhikode to Sharjah. The outbound flight, 9W 208, will depart Kozhikode at 2125 hrs (IST) and arrive in Sharjah at 2355 hrs (local time). The inbound flight 9W 207 will depart Sharjah at 1620 hrs (local time) and arrive in Kozhikode at 2145 hrs (IST).

The new service will make Kozhikode the third Indian city to be connected by Jet Airways to Sharjah, adding to the daily flights that the airline already operates to the Emirate from Kochi and Mangaluru.

According to Gaurang Shetty, whole-time director, Jet Airways, "the Gulf region is becoming an increasingly popular destination among the Indian population, whether it's for business travel, tourism or employment. To cater to this growing demand, Jet Airways has progressively taken steps to enhance capacity on the route either by deploying more aircraft or introducing wide-body options on the sector.

He said that Jet Airways has established itself as the preferred airline on Indo-Gulf routes and expanding our already extensive network, allied to our reputation for service excellence, will ensure we remain the airline of choice for guests flying between India and the Gulf.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka has so far witnessed 62 Covid-19 positive cases including 3 deaths and five discharges, according to mid-day bulletin released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

The state on Friday witnessed a sudden spike in the number of Covid-19 cases with the officials confirming seven new positive cases overnight (26 March 5:00 pm to 27 March 8:00 am) across the state including a 10-month-old baby boy becoming the youngest Covid-19 patient in Karnataka and second youngest patient in India after 8-month-old baby in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to mid-day bulletin released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare on Friday, Karnataka witnessed 62 Covid-19 positive cases including 3 deaths and five discharges. The 10-month-old baby (P56) even though had no travel history to any of the Covid-19 affected countries, officials revealed that the family members had taken the baby to Kerala and six primary contacts have been established and put under home quarantine.

This apart, a 20-year-old male (P57) who returned from Colombo, a 25-year-old female (P58) who returned from London have also been tested positive for Covid-19. Further, a 35-year-old female (P59) and 33-year-old female (P61) said to be the primary contacts of P25 (House Maid) have also been tested positive according to the officials

Besides, a 60-year-old male (P60) who returned to Sira in Tumakuru by train from New Delhi died on Friday morning also tested positive. His primary contacts, including health care professionals have been put under house quarantine. According to officials a 22-year-old male (P62) from Uttara Kannada with travel history to Dubai has also been tested positive for Covid 19 on Friday.

According to bulletin, all the patients barring P60 are being treated at designated isolation hospitals in Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Uttara Kannada. In the meantime, P1 and P3 from Bengaluru have been discharged from RGICD, according to officials.

Mangaluru, July 29: The police have managed to nab a youth in connection with issuing death threat against IAS officer Sindhu B Rupesh, the outgoing deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada.

The arrested has been identified as Ranjit, a resident of Bajpe, on the outskirts of the city. He is said to be Hindutva activist. 

The death threat came in the wake of the officer’s warning against attack on cattle traders by anti-social elements ahead of Eid al-Adha. 

Even though the IAS officer had not lodged any complaint, Moodbidri police had registered a suo motu case after a WhatsApp screenshot of the death threat went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Sindhu B Rupesh was transferred and posted as director, electronic delivery citizen services (EDCS), DP & AR (e governance) Bengaluru.

Chitradurga, Feb 10: President of the BJP State unit Nalin Kumar Kateel on Sunday hit out at Congress leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “zero candle bulb”.

Mr. Kateel told reporters here that Mr. Modi was a “1,000 watt bulb that gave light to the world”, and compared Mr. Kharge to a lamp that had burned out politically.

Mr. Kateel charged that Mr. Kharge had become frustrated after losing the elections and after his party did not even consider him for a Rajya Sabha seat. And this had made the Congress leader to make wild charges against the Prime Minister.

Lashing out at the Congress, Mr. Kateel alleged that the Congress was continuing the “divide and rule” policy of the British and accused the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda of being the “other face of the Congress”.

Mr. Kateel also came down on the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He ridiculed the Congress for the delay in choosing a new KPCC chief after Dinesh Gundu Rao submitted his resignation.
