India should retaliate with killing at least 50 Pakistani troops: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev

August 9, 2013

Yoga_guru_Baba_RamdevNew Delhi, Aug 9: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev called on the Centre to adopt an eye for an eye approach and kill at least 50 Pakistani soldiers in retaliation for the five Indian soldiers killed in Poonch on Tuesday.

“India should retaliate with killing at least 50 Pakistani troops, against the five Indian soldiers that they have killed. And then, the Congress should tell the nation that this is the action that the government has taken. Statements do nothing, especially those filled with cowardice,” Baba Ramdev said.

Criticizing the UPA-led Central Government, Baba Ramdev said that its reaction damages the pride and respect of the nation

“The time for statements has gone, it is now time for action. The present Central Government is zero in terms of taking action. But by giving wrong statements, the Central Government is risking the country`s security, respect and pride. It looks like the country is not intact in the hands of the present Central Government. They cannot protect the country`s respect and pride,” Ramdev said.

While Pakistan has denied the involvement of its troops in the incident, Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Wednesday said that the intruders who killed the five Indian soldiers were "terrorists along with persons dressed in Pakistan Army uniform.

Antony`s Wednesday statement had attracted a lot of flak, as it has contradicted the Indian Army`s account, which said that the perpetrators were "soldiers from the Pakistan Army." The BJP-led opposition had accused the Central Government of "giving the Pakistan Army a clean chit.

Antony in his updated statement to both Houses of Parliament on Thursday said, "It is now clear that Specialist Forces of the Pakistan Army were involved in the attack. Those in Pakistan who are responsible for this tragedy, should not go unpunished. Our restraint should not be taken for granted.

"We all know that nothing happens from the Pakistan side of the LoC without the support, assistance, facilitation and often, direct involvement of the Pakistan Army. Pakistan must take steps to punish those responsible for the attack. Pakistan should also dismantle all terrorist apparatus on its soil," said Antony

He also warned that attacks such as this will have consequences not only on the Line of Control (LoC), but also naturally on the (future) relationship with Pakistan

He said that the Indian Government would not stand by the wayside and allow the sanctity of the LoC to be violated time and again

"The capacity of our armed forces, the resolve of the government to uphold the sanctity of the LoC should not be doubted," Antony added

Commenting on Defence Minister A.K. Antony`s statements made in Parliament on Wednesday and Thursday, Baba Ramdev said that the shifting statements are a matter of shame

“The shifting statements made by the Defence Minister not only disrespects the martyrdom of five soldiers, but it also impacts crores of people of India. It is not the question of only the five jawans, but is also a matter of national unity and integrity. …The shifting statements are a matter of shame shows cowardice, Ramdev said

Ramdev also accused the Congress of not having the best interest of the country in mind saying, “The Congress has always operated in a way that damages the morale of the Indian Army. It seems to me that the Congress` loyalties are not with India but with Pakistan.”

Though his updated statement has been welcomed by the BJP, the opposition party has demanded that Parliamentary discussions focus on the incident and have asked for a suspension of talks with Pakistan.

New Delhi, May 21: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to airport operators on Wednesday for recommencement of domestic flights from May 25 onwards, saying Aarogya Setu app is not mandatory for children below 14 years of age.

"Passengers shall compulsorily walk through screening zone for thermal screening at a designated place in the city side before entering the terminal building," the AAI said in its SOP, which has been accessed by news agency.

Airport operators must make appropriate arrangements for sanitisation of a passenger's baggage before his or her entry into the terminal building, said the SOP dated May 20.

The AAI manages more than 100 airports across the country. However, major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad are managed by private companies.

Civil Aviation Minister had announced on Wednesday that domestic flight services would resume from May 25 onwards in a calibrated manner.

The Indian Defence Ministry, which had in its document that China intruded into the Indian territory in eastern Ladakh in early May, on August 6 took down the page which it had uploaded on its website.

According to a report by news channel NDTV, the ministry, in its document, had said the Chinese aggression has been "increasing along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and more particularly in Galwan valley since May 5."

"The Chinese side has transgressed in the areas of Kungrang Nala, Gogra and north bank of Pangong Tso Lake on May 17-18," the document, titled 'Chinese Aggression on LAC' stated.

The document revealed that "... a violent face-off incident took place between the two sides on June 15, resulting in casualties on both sides."

After the clash, a second corps commander level meeting took place on June 22 to discuss the modalities of de-escalation. "While engagement and dialogue at military and diplomatic level is continuing to arrive at mutually acceptable consensus, the present standoff is likely to be prolonged," it said.

A defence ministry spokesperson told the news channel that the document "did not go through him".

The opposition Congress, meanwhile, asked the government why the report was taken down with party leader Rahul Gandhi alleging that removal of the document from websites would not change facts.

"Forget standing up to China, India's PM lacks the courage even to name them. Denying China is in our territory and removing documents from websites won't change the facts," Gandhi tweeted.

Jun 20: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remark that neither is anyone inside India's territory nor has any of its posts been captured, alleging that the PM has "surrendered" Indian territory to Chinese aggression.

In a statement on the all-party meeting called by Modi on Friday to discuss the situation at the India-China border, the government said, "At the outset, prime minister clarified that neither is anyone inside our territory nor is any of our post captured."

Tagging PM's remarks with his tweet, Gandhi said, "PM has surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression."

"If the land was Chinese: 1. Why were our soldiers killed? 2. Where were they killed?" Gandhi said.

The categorical statement by the prime minister came in the wake of reports that Chinese military has transgressed into the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control, the de-facto border, in several areas of eastern Ladakh including Pangong Tso and Galwan Valley.

Soon after Gandhi's tweet, Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted video of father of a soldier, who was injured in Galwan face-off, and hit out at the Congress leader, accusing him of indulging in "petty politics".

"A brave armyman’s father speaks and he has a very clear message for Mr. Rahul Gandhi. At a time when the entire nation is united, Mr. Rahul Gandhi should also rise above petty politics and stand in solidarity with national interest," Shah wrote.

The prime minister's assertion came even as Congress president Sonia Gandhi, at the all-party meet, questioned the government's handling of the situation, asking if there was any intelligence failure, and seeking assurance that China will "revert" to its original position.

Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused senior ministers in the government of "lying" to protect the prime minister and that the Centre was "fast asleep" while martyred jawans paid the price in Ladakh.

The former Congress chief also tagged a one-minute video of a jawan's father saying the Indian soldiers were unarmed when they were attacked by Chinese troops.

He has been questioning the government on the LAC standoff and asking how the Chinese occupied Indian territory and why Indian soldiers were sent "unarmed to martyrdom" in Ladakh.

Twenty Indian Army personnel, including a colonel, were killed in a clash with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Monday night, the biggest military confrontation in over five decades that has significantly escalated the already volatile border standoff in the region.
