Ullal Dargah: Now, no miracles; only clashes!

Mangaluru, Apr 30: Once upon a time, the Dargah or shrine of Sayyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani located at Ullal in Mangaluru taluk was famous for “beautiful stories of miracles and wonders.” Unfortunately, now it has turned into the epicentre of clashes between so called Sunni' groups in the region.

Thangal

With the growing number of devotees thronging the shrine every year and the ever-increasing revenue, this religious tourism centre has emerged as a mini power hub'. However, many devotees of Ullal Dargah, which is known as the Ajmer of South India', are worried that it may lose its religious prominence if the same situation continues.

Internal bickering snowballing into major clashes, especially during the selection process of its president, is not new to this Dargah, wherein the incidents of stone pelting and using abusive words against each other by the followers of two groups are repeatedly occurring.

dargah

The latest incident of violence on the premises of Dargah and adjacent Juma Masjid, has caused further damages to its popularity and purity. Once again the police had to intervene to bring the situation under control.

Battle for power'

After the demise of Haji UK Ibrahim (2007), who served as the president of the management committee of Ullal Dargah for almost four decades, the battle for the president's post turned furious with followers of Kerala-based AP' (SSF) and EK' (SKSSF) groups making all possible efforts to keep the institution under their control.

The Dargah had witnessed clashes when Haji UK Monu and Haji US Hamza became presidents subsequently. However, this time (April 26) the situation was worse as the followers of AP group boycotted the selection process and then refused to accept the selection of Haji Abdul Rasheed, who enjoys the support of EK group.

On the same day, the AP group followers led by Ullal Khazi Sayyid Koorath Thangal held a separate meeting and declared their candidate Bukhari as the new president and also formed a new committee. This led to a clash to a fight between two groups.

Meanwhile, the video clips of Dargah devotees belonging to different groups using offensive words against each other have gone viral on WhatsApp and other social media. As part of precautionary measures, the police have locked up the office of the Darga committee temporarily.

Lets put it in a nut shell Khader is the only problem rest everything no problem if Khader is inspired by some false clergy let him keep it personal and not inflict on people. ullal is a place they don't want any organizations interfering they want be on their own, Khader has lost the battle last time in the juma case. he has a good platform to strengthen the party because on one side Rasheed is a congressman and in the other side mustafa is a congressman instead of taking advantage he is supporting a false clergy and causing all the nuisance in ullal .

when members of SSF wants a roudyshitter .Bhuhari wants to be a president of ullal dargha .. imagine of thier thinking is to Grasp power at any cost, Not worried which background he is from.. obviously people of ullal has to against it.. I think UT khader also should have done basic research before he could interfere & favor one side.. criminal entering politices is a common that everyone accepts without any choice.... but in Mosque Committe person with criminal background will never accept at any cost which lead to the situation getting worse.... shame at religious leader & Polictian who support such president.. SHAME on THEM...

Oh, wahabbis, don't act like the reformers of the society. Ask your gurus in Kerala to stop fighting in the name of Jinn Tawheed. Did you forget your own people fought in the dais (stage) for Jinn Tawheed? Don't you feel ashamed of talking about Sunni groups when you people were divided into more than 8 groups in the name of tawheed, whereas both sunni groups have same belief in Tawheed.

Seeking the help of Jinn is tawheed, whereas seeking the help of Auliyas is shirk. Oh wahabbis where are you people leading to ?

Babri masjid was demolished in 1992. Does it mean that no power for Allah ? So, commentators and Article Headline by ..., never to try to boil your seed by degrading the power of miracle of Auliyas.

Insha Allah, Truth will prevail soon and SK goondas will be going to suffer soon for their heinous act.

There is no difference between dargah and temple. Both make pooja by offering flower etc. Both make jathre(Uroos). Both make nerche (Harake). In islam no where taught like this. They make all this only for money.

SAUDIS say worship the one LORD ALLAH, who created U, Me and all that exists & follow prophet Muhammad pbuh.
IRAN says worship ALLAH, Follow prophet muhammad, Ask with ALI & they also ask with the imaams in the Graves and they have lot of SHRINE worship expecting BARAKAH from the auliyas. which they never said to do such worship for barakah.

NOW TELL ME which ways YOU guys are following... IRAN or SAUDI?

When our IMAAN in ALLAH becomes WEAK, not maintaining SABR & we tend to go & ask with the Creations of ALLAH... which is very dangerous to our FAITH. And our enemies deceive us very EASILY.

I request people to DEPEND on ALLAH alone. Every example on our life have to be cleared by Prophet Muhammad pbuh. he also said even if it is small issues, ASK with ALLAH alone.... ALLAH gives barakah when you really rely on HIM. He knows what is in your hearts .. without patience, some guys are going and following the shia style of worship

We should EXPECT such inner clash when leaders of our community Never encourage to ASK with ALLAH ALONE and are SILENCE and never try to UNITE our UMMAH ... instead dividing each other in the name of GROUP ideology.

DEAR MUSLIMS - READ QURAN with understanding, ALLAH guides those who look for his QURAN, understand it, ponder it... The more U ponder, the more U will depend on ALLAH. NO need for any intermediate. U will praise the auliyas of ALLAH & follow the ways they taught us and will never ask with them but U will only depend on ALLAH for your requirement & Barakah.

May ALLAH guide us all ..

Miracle is there in the Quran not in any idol or dargah... Better if people understand it for their success in this duniya and hereafter..
Here I saw many non muslim brothers confused with Sunni, AK, EK and so on.. Worshiping dargah is not at all Islamic.. Worship only ONE God. thats real Islam.. Regulate 5 times salah, Give zakaath/ sadqa, help each other to live peacefully and let other creations of Allah live peacefully.. Make this life worth living.. Thats what Islam teaches and Quran teaches and history teaches us..

There are some exceptions - some ignorant people dont want to understand this and always blaming Islam is their habbit whenever commenting.. Thats without proper knowledge of Islam. May Allah give hidaya to all of us..Ameen

In the first para itself the writer is saying that the Darga was famous for \stories of miracles\" and not for real miracles. Strange that coastaldigest.com publishing these kinds of extremist Wahhabist articles these days without examining it. I am a big fan of CD since its launch. hope it will realise its mistakes and avoid unnecessary crtisicm of the groups of aalims."

The history of Muslims is full of violence. This is the good opportunity for Muslims to renounce their violent faith and embrace Hinduism the true religion of peace, and leader a dignified life instead of fighting in the name of AP, EK, PK, TK

Very sad. Ignorance at its peak.

Fooling ignorant people by any so called masjid management or by any greedy imaams is not at all appreciable. Either imaams of the Masjid or the management committee of the masjid should ENLIGHTEN the people on the basis of teachings of HOLY QURA'N and SUNNAH.

Why not leave shirk as Allah has ordered in his book.

Masjid is house of Allah which are to be 24x7 active with prayers, education and community development activities. No need of Dargas which is supporting shirk. Oneness of Allah, Tawheed is our requirement.

Community should not waste time and energy in fighting for unnecessary reasons.

It is not EK vs AP as mentioned but it is AP group vs rest.
In Ullal there are total 49 committee member elected of which 27 supports Rashid Haji means Rashid Haji has clear majority for Presidency.
And about President selected by Kazi Khoora Thangal and SSF is Bukhari who dont have the majority but also people know what his background is.
SSF people lost the election instead of handing over the power they forwarding a rowdy sheeter as president to create terror in Ullal for that one of Minister from region supporting SSF by sending Waqf officer to lock the Darga.
Instead of doing all this let all member sit together elect the President who has the majority

The unexpected lockdown to prevent spread of covid–19 has caused a serious damage to the lives of Indian expatriates irrespective of laborers and entrepreneurs in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Different stories of expatriates' ordeals are emerging from the region.

Abdul Razaq, hailing from Udupi in Karnataka has been running small scale business at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, based on oil refinery projects of the government. He was undergoing medical treatment for his cancer which is in fist stage. He explaines his ordeals caused by lockdown and stopping the flight facility.

“I was regularly visiting home country for the treatment of cancer. Now I cannot go as international flight service has been stopped. I expect that government will hear problems of expatriates and will arrange facilities to take us back to home”, he said.

Mubeen from Bengaluru was working on temporary basis  for a company in Jubail. He had lost his jobs like some of his colleagues due to the lockdown.

“As everything was alright, I had brought my parents recently to Saudi Arabia on a visit visa. Things changed drastically with covid-19 attack. Continuous lockdown caused burden over the company and they removed temporary employees like me to control possible losses” he said.

“Now owner of the flat has been harassing me for the rent. I do not have money either to pay rent or to cover daily family expenses. I do not know what to do further”, he added.

Iqbal from Mangaluru left for Saudi Arabia to help his family. He got a job in a juce centre in Dammam recently. Corona lockdown made his life difficult. He is eager to return his home country.

“I came to Saudi Arbia because of financial difficulties as I had not found any job with good salary there. I thought I can earn well by going to Saudi Arabia. However, here too the salary was not so good. Now juice center is closed due to lockdown and sponsor is giving very small amount of money as salary through which we cannot afford our expenses and our families back in home,” he said.

“Here It is not easy get help of fellow Indians since most of them have their own ordeals. I would like to return home country; there however we can manage to get help of friends and relatives. I am looking forward the help of Indian government to start air facility for stranded NRIs,” he said.

Mohsin from Mysuru is a taxi driver in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He was earning on commission basis. Now Saudi government banned movement of taxis in the region, which pushed him and his fellow taxi drivers into trouble.

“We were earning commissions daily on the basis of trips. Now we cannot move outside with taxi since it may cause us to pay the fine of SR.10000. How can I manage my expenses and family members in home?”, he asked.

There are cases of pregnant women who have to return India for delivery. Those who brought family here on visit visa will not have insurance. Delivery charges and any kind of medical facilities without insurance in Saudi Arabia is very expensive. Expatriate Indians with such problems are awaiting government's help.

“I had brought my wife on one year visit visa. Now she is pregnant and I have to send her back to home for delivery. If lockdown continues, it is difficult to send back and we have to spend big amounts for delivery without insurance. It is a big burden to me as I work for small salary in a company”, said Yunus from Hyderabad, who is living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Lockdown is haunting even entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia. Most of expatriates in the industrial hub of Jubail are doing business based on Saudi Government’s oil refinery projects. Saudi Arabia temporarily stopped most of the projects as part of public health safety measures to maintain social distance.

“We are doing business based on oil refinery projects. Now projects are stopped. We brought around 1100 people on work permit visa on temporary basis. And also, we have around 1200 permanent workers. It is a big burden to provide them with food, accommodation and salary. It may cause a big loss for our company”, said owner of expatriates company, Sheikh Mohammed.

Saudi Arabia had reported first corona virus affected case in March 2, 2020. At the end of March, it was 1600 and now it already corssed 6000. Saudi Health ministry has cautioned the number of affected people may rise 10000 to 200,000 and directed for more precautionary measures. In such case, the Indian expatriates may have to face crisis in the region.

Indian expatriate organizations are demanding for immediate intervention of Indian government to ensure better quarantine facility and treatment of NRIs in Saudi Arabia as the cases are increasing rapidly. The condition of laborers in some of the camps are such that seven to eight people should share a single bed room.

“Normally if there is a flat, it will consist three to four bed rooms. In single bedroom companies will provide three four bunk beds and six to eight people should share the room. In such cases, if a person affected with virus it will spread quickly to others. Thus, Indian government should ensure quarantine facility for NRIs”, says Wasim Rabbani, president of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia.

President of Karnataka Non Residential Indians, A forum for the NRI organizations of Karnataka, Zakaria Muzain says Indian Government should immediately interfere to bring back those stranded NRIs who wish to return home. Government should intervene to pressure Indian embassy to take the issues of troubled expatriates.

“Government should make special flight arrangement for such NRIs in trouble. It should also arrange quarantine facility for those who return to India. Already there are many Non-Governmental charity organization which have come forward to give their facilities for NRIs”, he said.

NRIs from all categories are looking forward for the help of Indian government. It is important to Indian government to take quick action as the problem is increasing in Saudi Arabia.

Bengaluru, Jul 8: In yet another revenue generation measure, the Revenue department has issued an order permitting the sale of government land leased to various religious, industrial and other organisations.

Officials say that around Rs 2,250 crore will be generated in Bengaluru Urban district alone, if the order is implemented.

While rules for the process are yet to be formed, it has directed deputy commissioners of various districts to submit proposals for the sale of such lands leased by the government to various institutions under the Karnataka Land Grant Rules, 1969. The order came after a recent Cabinet decision.

The order issued on July 6 says that government lands leased to private organisations, trusts, industries, educational, social welfare, religious and agricultural purposes can be regularised by paying the guidance value of the land, provided the organisation continued to use the land for the same purpose it was granted for.

If an organisation or trust wanted to convert the land for other purposes, it will be charged twice the guidance value. According to the order, land leased to organisations that are unwilling to purchase the land will be surveyed. “DCs should initiate measures to survey such lands and recover the unused land to the government,” it said.

Revenue Principal Secretary N Manjunath Prasad told DH that rules for the sale of such lands will be formulated shortly. “We have directed deputy commissioners to compile the extent of land leased to various organisations in their respective districts,” he said, noting that 921 acres were leased to private parties in Bengaluru Urban district.

From the 921 acres, the state government used to receive an annual rent of Rs 6.50 crore per year. Sale of leased land in Bengaluru Urban alone will generate around Rs 2,250 crore at current guidance values, Prasad said.

The government is also pushing for regularisation of unauthorised buildings on Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) land and auction of corner sites to mobilise resources due to the severe economic difficulties in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the state’s reduced share in central taxes.

Bengaluru, Jan 28: The state government is set to allow investors who bought farmland for industrial and other purposes to sell it off if they fail to use it within seven years. The new buyers, however, must utilise the land parcel for the same purpose for which it was allotted.

An amendment bill in this regard will be tabled during the joint session of the assembly, which begins on February 17.

Currently, investors remain tied to unused parcels. Law and parliamentary affairs minister JC Madhuswamy said the amendment to Section 109 of the Karnataka Land Reforms Act, which deals with the purchase of farmland for non-agricultural purposes, would remove hurdles for disposal of such plots. “To prevent misuse of land, the bill makes it mandatory for the new buyer to utilise it for the purpose for which the land was purchased by the first investor,” he said.

The government will also table a bill which seeks to regulate the affairs of religious and educational trusts. It will empower the government to intervene in the affairs of the trusts when irregularities come to light.

“Currently, the government has no role to play when allegations of irregularities and mismanagement crop up against trustees. The bill seeks to address this,” Madhuswamy said. He clarified the government didn’t want to interfere in trusts’ affairs. But some issues, he added, were of concern: trustees illegally selling off the trust property.
