Will convince mutt seers to call off agitation for separate state: Yeddy

Bengaluru, Jul 30: BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, on Monday, stated that he will visit Belagavi on Tuesday and convince the heads of various mutts to call off their agitation for a separate North Karnataka state.

In a press statement, Yeddyurappa blamed Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for the current unrest in North Karnataka.

He referred to the issue wherein, Kumaraswamy reportedly told North Karnataka farmers that they had no moral right to demand crop loan waiver because they had not voted for JD(S) in the Assembly polls.

Kumaraswamy was trying to divide the state for the sake of power and survival, Yeddyurappa stated.

The BJP always stood for a united Karnataka and at no cost will it support the division of the state, Yeddyurappa stated.

Politician considering power as a job. If they have power/came into power, they will use and do temporary solution. If they are not ruling, they dont have any loyalty towards people. They will put everything on ruling govt, sit back, enjoys and most of the time makes the situation worst to get attention towards them, like Yeddy doing now

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 2: The twin coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi witnessed sporadic movement of vehicles and relatively less commercial activities today in spite of the withdrawal of ‘Sunday lockdown’ by the state government. 

After the central government announced guidelines under Unlock 3.0, the Karnataka government has removed the complete lockdown concept on Sundays and done away with the night curfews too. So from today (August 2), there will be no lockdown on Sundays.

KSRTC operated its buses as usually. However, compared to other days, today the number of private and city buses on the roads in Dakshina Kannada was limited. 

In Udupi, city buses remained off the roads as the number of passengers was less. However, KSRTC and NARM buses were seen transporting passengers.

In containment zones ban on movement of people will continue till August 31 in Udupi. The Santhekatte market used to function on Saturdays, as there was Sunday lockdown on earlier Sundays. Now the market will be open on Sundays only.

Mangaluru, May 30: Coastal district of Dakshina Kannada today recorded third covid-19 death as a 67-year-old woman from Bantwal taluk succumbed to the coronavirus at the district Wenlock Hospital, the designated Covid hospital.

The victim is said to be a neighbor of two women (daughter-in-law and mother-in-law) who died of the coronavirus a few days ago. 

On April 18 due to difficulties in breathing, she was rushed to Wenlock Hospital, where she was tested positive for coronavirus. Initially she responded to treatment. However, her condition started worsening earlier this week and breathed her last today evening.

Her daughter also has been tested positive for the deadly virus and she is currently undergoing treatment.

Mangaluru, Apr 29: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday inaugurated a mobile fever clinic to cure COVID-19 patients.

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has converted one of its buses into a clinic in Mangaluru to treat COVID-19 patients.

The mobile fever clinic has a bed for the patient and a cabin for the doctor. There is also a seating facility, medicine box, wash-basin, sanitizer, soap oil, a separate water facility, and fans.
