Amit Shah: 'Saying south states fund north, is ploy to damage federal system'

Mysuru, Mar 31: BJP supremo Amit Shah on Saturday came down heavily on Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and other influential politicians from South India, who often say that the southern states of the country are funding BJP-ruled northern states through the Finance Commission.

“Such a claim is a ploy to damage the federal system,” Shah said adding that the allocation of the 14th commission was made by the Congress-led UPA government. A better allocation will be made in the next commission for the uniform development of the nation, he said.

Commenting on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claim that the allocation of Rs 2.19 lakh crore for Karnataka by the 14th Finance Commission was the state's right and not a 'favour done to Karnataka by the BJP', Shah said the NDA too, does not consider it to be a favour.

"But, why was the allocation in the 13th Finance Commission only Rs 88,583 crore? The Congress-led UPA had denied Karnataka's its right. The BJP has ensured that the state gets what is due," Shah said.

Shah said the 'cyclone of corruption' affecting the people in Karnataka due to Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, would turn into a tsunami if the Congress is re-elected.

"Siddaramaiah claims to be a champion of the OBCs. But his own party scuttled the bill that would have given Constitutional status to the OBC Commission. Their leader stalled the passing of the bill seeking a provision to nominate a member of the minority community in the commission," Shah recalled.

The bill which was passed in the Lok Sabha was stalled in the Rajya Sabha due to the adamant attitude of the Congress, he added.

Shah also targeted the JD(S), saying that the party had its own limitations, and can't form the government on its own.

Crimes are pushing the boundaries.

If these Gujarati Criminals rule the country what can the country expect.

Whose mistake is it. The poor illiterate North Indian Citizens who depreived of the education, have voted these criminals to rule the country.

Now the whole nation has to suffer.

Teh only solution is educate the citizens so they understand who is the good leader and what is the good party for the country.

Belagavi, Feb 10: In comments that raised eyebrows, Ramesh Jarkiholi, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP and who took oath as minister last week, said his brother Satish has a bright future. The two siblings have rarely seen eye-to-eye — at least in public — in recent times.

He also trained his gun on Congress leader DK Shivakumar, sarcastically thanking the Congress MLA for his meteoric rise. “Had Shivakumar not stood against me, I would not have emerged as a tall leader in the state. I must thank him,” Ramesh said.

The Gokak MLA said Satish of the Congress, the most politically-savvy of the five Jarkiholi siblings, would reach “the top” in his political career. However, he advised him “to inculcate patience and adopt strategies”. “He should make his moves at the right time as timing is very important in politics,” Ramesh said.

He also urged Satish to keep his supporters happy. “Many of his followers are disappointed with his leadership because he does not extend a helping hand to his own people. In the present political climate, people do not endorse a leader who only talks about Buddha and Basava,” Ramesh said.

Ramesh took a dig at Lakan, the youngest sibling, saying, “Lakan speaks ill about me most of the time. He does not understand much. But we brothers are one when it comes to family. We are united when it comes to family matters, but when it comes to politics, we are at loggerheads.”

Indore, Jan 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya on Thursday said that he suspected that there were some Bangladeshis among construction labourers who worked at his house recently.

Their “strange” eating habits aroused suspicion about their nationality, the BJP general secretary said at a seminar in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) here.

When a new room was being added at his house recently, he found “eating habits” of some of the workers “strange” as “they were eating only `poha’ (flattened rice)”, he said.

After talking to their supervisor and the building contractor, he suspected that these workers were from Bangladesh, the BJP leader said.

When reporters questioned him later, Vijayvargiya said, “I suspected these workers were residents of Bangladesh. Two days after I became suspicious, they stopped working at my house. I have not filed any police complaint yet. I only mentioned this incident to warn people,” he said.

Speaking at the seminar, Vijayvargiya also claimed that a Bangladeshi terrorist was keeping a watch on him for the last one and a half years.

“Whenever I go out, six armed security personnel follow me. What is happening in this country? Will outside people enter and spread so much terror?” he asked.

“Don’t get confused by rumours. The CAA is in the interest of the country. This law will provide asylum to genuine refugees and identify intruders who are a threat to the country’s internal security,” he added.
