Bantwal, Sep 19: A group of vigilante attackers owing allegiance to Sangh Parivar waylaid a cattle-laden vehicle in Bantwal taluk and brutally assaulted its driver until local police reached the spot and took him to custody.

Ivan D'Souza, who sustained severe injuries in the attack, has lodged a complaint at Bantwal Town Police Station against the assailants including local Hindutva activists Prashant, Thilakraj and Umesh.

The complainant said that the assailants threatened to kill him besides using abusive words against Christians and Muslims.

Acting on Mr D'Souza's complaint, the police managed to arrest three persons, who walked free by securing bail within a few hours.

The attack took place Thursday late night at Thumbia area of B Kasba village in Bantwal Taluk, when Ivan D'Souza and three others were transporting cattle. There were two cows and three calves in the vehicle.

When the vigilante attackers intercepted the pickup vehicle, three persons identified as Ashok, Basheer and Thasleem, managed to escape. However, Mr D'Souza was caught by the miscreants and assaulted.

Ironically, the police also arrested based on a complaint lodge by the vigilante attackers, who accused him of illegal cattle trafficking. Mr D'Souza maintained that he was transporting the cattle legally. He was released on bail after being produced before a local court on Friday. The police have seized the cattle and vehicle.

Tumakuru, Jan 8: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat stoked controversy on Wednesday by stating that 'Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is full of traitors'.

He was addressing the media after taking part in a pro-CAA rally organised by National Citizens Forum near the office of the deputy commissioner of the district here.

Bhat said, “JNU is full of traitors. Congress and communist parties have been generating anti-nationals there. But there is no need to close the university down. Modi government will handle it.”

“Nationalism should be infused among the students there through love and trust. They should be made to realize what the truth is,” he said.

Unfortunate, still he has poor followers to believe him.

He is safe at home and sacrifiers are poor boys who blindly believe and obey him.

This guy is sick and irriversible.

God will reward him so that his followers believe his exploiting orders.

Mangaluru, Feb 16: An elderly woman from Tamil Nadu was on Saturday reunited with her daughter and son after 14 years at the Mangaluru's White Doves destitute home.

"Mary only knew her name when she came here 10 years ago. Recently, she told us about her home town," Corrine Rusquinha, founder of White Doves told media.
Mary had gone missing 14 years ago from her hometown Kortampet in Tamil Nadu.

"Ten years ago, she was spotted by Mangaluru police who brought her to White Doves home late one evening. Initially, she could only speak Tamil, so it was presumed she was from Tamil Nadu. She was on psychiatric treatment," Rusquinha said.

A few days back, a visiting priest at the White Doves home spoke to Mary in Tamil and asked about her hometown.

"Surprisingly, she could recall the name of her hometown, following which the visiting priest contacted the pastor at Kortampet. Mary's family, including her daughter Gnana Anthony, who is a paramedic student in Coimbatore, was informed about Mary," she said.

Soon after, Gnana and her elder brother came to Mangaluru to take their mother back to their home.

Mary's husband Jhonson, who worked as a cook, had died within a year of losing his wife.
