Kasaragod, Jul 23: The District Sessions court here has ordered disbursal of Rs 2,46,34,360 to the next of kin of the doctor couple family from Kasaragod who got killed in a road accident three years ago.
The tragedy had taken place in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district in April 2015 when the family was on a pilgrimage to the Tirupati temple.
The victims are Dr Santosh, who was the Reproductive and Child Health officer, District Medical Office (Ranni, Pathanamthitta); his wife Dr P M Ashalatha (45), who was senior civil surgeon (gynaecology), Kasaragod District Hospital at Kanhangad; and their elder son Harikrishnan (14). Their younger son, Ashwin (10), was critically injured.
Pronouncing the verdict, District Sessions Judge S. Manohar Kini while settling the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal case on Saturday ordered the New India Assurance company to pay the compensation amount to the families of Dr Ashalatha and Santhosh. The court also ordered matching compensation in the name of Harikrishnan and injured son Ashwin.
Mangaluru, Jan 11: Reacting to the recent video clippings provided to the media by former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy in connection with the December 19 unrest in Mangaluru, city Police Commissioner Dr PS Harsha on Saturday said that the video has to be seen in a proper sequence to come to a conclusion on the happenings of that day.
