Mangaluru, Sep 13: Amidst reports that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee was gearing up to build a case against him for alleged anti-party activities, former union minister B Janardhana Poojary said that he was waiting for the “notice” to be issued, so as to give a “proper” reply.

Karnataka Congress in-charge Digvijaya Singh had recently hinted that action would be taken against Mr Poojary as well as another senior leader, H. Vishwanath, for “speaking against” the party and its chief minister.

Speaking to media persons in Manglauru on Monday Mr Poojary strongly justified his recent controversial statements and said that his “outbursts” were to protect the party and not tarnish its image. “Those who don't realize this fact are ignorant people,” he added.

Stating that he is afraid of any action to be taken in response to statements, Mr. Poojary said that many senior leaders, including himself, Oscar Fernandes, Dharam Singh, Mr.Vishwanath, M. Veerappa Moily and thousands of loyal party workers have built the Congress fortress in the state and they do not want to weaken it.

He said while a few of the “ignorant” people in the party are busy spreading hatred against him, he has been receiving positive feedback not only from the State, but also from abroad, with regard to his straight talk to save the party. “I am voicing my concern for the party workers and six crore people in the State,” he said.

Chennai, July 27: Multi-lingual actress Vijayalakshmi, who attempted suicide yesterday, alleging harassment and bullying by followers of Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman and Panankattu Padai’s Hari Nadar, is recuperating at a hospital in Chennai.

Vijayalakshmi is known for films like Friends and Boss Engira Baskaran. She recently made headlines for speaking against Seeman and the torture she was allegedly facing from the actor-turned-politician and his party.

In the video which was uploaded on Sunday evening, Vijayalakshmi said, “This is my last video and I have been in tremendous stress in the last four months because of Seeman and his partymen. I tried my level best to survive all these days because of my mother and sister, but I have been humiliated in the media by Harinadar recently.”

She added, “I would like to tell fans who are watching the video just because I was born in Karnataka, Seeman has tortured me a lot. As a woman, I have put up with it to my highest capabilities. I won’t be able handle the pressure anymore. I am from the Pillai community, the same community LTTE leader Prabhakaran is part of. Prabhakaran is the only reason Seeman is who he is today, but now he has been harassing me on social media continuously. You slut shamed me to make me feel the pain and it is up to me to decide on what to do after facing such insults from you. I request my fans not to let Seeman get away from this case. He should never get anticipatory bail. My death should be a big eye-opener to everyone. I don’t want to be a slave to anybody.”

New Delhi, Apr 26: The Centre will bring back the Indian citizens stranded abroad due to the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft, only if the respective states they belong to agree to allow them to come back home and make necessary arrangements to quarantine them after their return.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has started consultations with the State Governments on bringing back the Indians, who got stranded in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada and many other foreign countries due to the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft to any airport in the country. The decision on facilitating their return to the country would be taken after getting feedback on preparedness of the States and the Union Territory to receive them following all required health precautions, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba said.

Gauba on Saturday had a video-conference with the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories to review the implementation of the restrictions on travel and transport as well as the lockdown imposed across the country to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Though the Government earlier either evacuated or facilitated the return of nearly 28000 Indians from a number of foreign countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it almost stopped doing so after the ban on arrival of international passenger aircraft was enforced on March 23 in the wake of the spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases in India.

Thousands of Indian students, tourists, professionals and others are stranded around the world, including in the countries, where respective governments had imposed lockdowns to contain the pandemic. They have been desperately requesting the government on social media to evacuate them.
