Ganja sale: One arrested

Mangalore, June 24: Personnel of Mangalore North (Bunder) police station headed by PSI Ramakrishna on Thursday arrested a person and seized 600 grams ganja worth Rs. 10,000 from him.

The team, based on a tip-off, arrested Abdul Raheem, son of Abdul Azeez and a resident of Ansari road in Bunder, when he was trying to sell it at Mangalore North docks.


Police said that he bought the stuff from Kerala.


A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Bengaluru, Apr 5: An elderly couple from Bengaluru

with a travel history to Dubai joined the list of coronavirus patients in the state, taking the total number of cases to 146, the health department said on Sunday.

The list includes four deaths and 11 discharges.

The 68-year old man and his 62-year old wife, hailing from Madiwala in the city, had returned from Dubai on March 22.

They were quarantined at a private hospital and have been asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the government appealed to people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation in New Delhi to contact 080-29711171 Arogya Sahayavani, the medical helpline number.

Bengaluru, Apr 4: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has appealed to employers not to cut salaries of their maids, servants and drivers who are unable to attend work due to the current lockdown situation in the country.

He said compassionate gesture of employers will support the poor and needy.

"I request all the employers not to cut salaries of their maids, servants, drivers etc., who are not able to work due to social distancing. Your compassionate gesture will support the poor and needy to overcome this hard time. FightBackKarnataka CoronavirusPandemic," the Chief Minister said in a tweet.
